常常使用的拉丁文單詞短語

拉丁語原本是義大利中部拉提姆地方（Latium，義大利語為Lazio）的方言，後來則因為發源於此地的羅馬帝國勢力擴張而將拉丁語廣泛流傳於帝國境內，並定拉丁文為官方語言。而基督教普遍流傳於歐洲後，拉丁語更加深其影響力，從歐洲中世紀至20世紀初葉的羅馬天主教為公用語，學術上論文也大多數由拉丁語寫成。現在雖然只有梵蒂岡尚在使用拉丁語，但是一些學術的詞彙或文章等尚使用拉丁語。
英語與拉丁語屬於同語系（印歐語系）但不同語族（英語屬於日耳曼語族，而拉丁語屬於義大利語族），因此文法上不盡相同。但還是有超過一半的英語詞彙源自於拉丁語。
英美人士在學術文章中和層次高一點的口語對話中都會使用到拉丁文。所以會一些毫無疑問是好事。今天平兄給各位梳理一下我們可能在寫作和口語中使用的拉丁文並給出一些例子。每個單詞都有對用的英語和中文釋義，且重要單詞配有例句。都跟寫作和口語有關，能記幾個是幾個。
這些你最好認識：
* amor [love] 愛
e.g. amor vincit omnia [Love conquers all.] 愛情徵服一切。
* per 每 per person per week(每人每星期)
* e.g. [for the sake of example,是exampli gratia的縮寫] 例如
* et cetera [etc.的全稱] 等等
* AD Anno Domini (AD) [in the year of our Lord] 公元；公元…年；耶穌降生後
* aqua 水
* versus [VS的全稱] 相對
e.g. The basis for judicial intervention becomes clear and worrisome problems of jurisdictional versus non jurisdictional errors of law are left behind.
* vice versa (v.v.) 反之亦然；反過來也是一樣；
e.g.
1, Juliet was a sex object to Romeo, and vice versa.
2, When times were good, men married earlier and some were able to marry who otherwise could not have married at all— and vice versa.
* lingua franca 通用語言

* de facto [in fact] 事實上
* per se [by itself] 本身，本質上
