Bezos to give half of wealth

MacKenzie Bezos, worth more than $36 billion after divorcing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, announced on Tuesday that she will give at least half of her fortune to charity. Bezos's promise came by signing the Giving Pledge, aninitiativefounded in 2010 by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett that encourages the world's wealthiest people to donate more than half of their wealth tocharitablecauses.

FedEx diverts Huawei parcels

Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei is reviewing its relationship with FedEx Corp after it claimed the US package delivery company, without detailed explanation, divertedtwo parcels destined for Huawei addresses in Asia to the US and attempted torerouteothers.

Huawei told Reuters on Friday that FedEx diverted two packages sent from Japan and addressed to Huawei in China to the US, and attempted to divert two more packages sent from Vietnam to Huawei offices elsewhere in Asia, all without authorization, providing images of FedEx tracking records. FedEx China on Tuesday apologized on its Chinese social media account for the "mishandling" of Huawei packages and said there was no "external pressure" to divert packages.

Great Wall to cap visitors

In a bid to keep crowd sizes down, authorities in charge of the Badaling section of the Great Wall in northern Beijing are introducing real-name online ticketing starting from June 1, with daily ticketing being capped at 65,000 per day. Individual and group visitors are being asked to reserve their tickets a week prior to their arrival. Once there, visitors will have to scan their ID cards to gain access to the World Heritage Site.

In a news conference, Foreign Minister Taro Kono said he plans to ask overseas news outletsto write Japanese names with the family name first and given name second - as is theconventionin Japan. "I plan to ask international media organizations to do this. Domestic media outlets that have English services should consider it, too," he said, according to Kyodo News.
