There once was a lion who was too lazy to hunt for his food. He pretended to be very sick and announced to all the animals that he was soon to die.

從前有一隻獅子，他非常懶，不願意自己捕獵。於是他假裝生了重病，對所有的動物們宣稱他很快就要死了。

"Please," he said, "come visit me in my cave and say goodbye to me."

「拜託你們了，」他說，「來我的洞裡，給我道別吧！」

The lion looked so weak and helpless, the animals felt sorry for him. One by one the visitors came. One by one, the lion ate them!

獅子看上去很虛弱無助，動物們都很同情他。訪客們一個個的到洞裡去看他，結果都被他一個個的吃掉了。

When the fox arrived to pay his last respects, he stopped in front of the cave's entrance and looked closely at the ground.

狐狸也來到了獅子的洞穴，準備跟他告別，然而他在洞口停下了，他仔細地檢查了下地面。

"Come in quickly, I am dying!" cried the sly lion, impatiently.

「快進來啊，我要死了！」狡猾的獅子不耐煩地吼叫道。

"No," said the clever fox, "I will not go in and see you, because I can see many footprints going into your cave, but NONE are coming out!"

「不，」聰明的狐狸說 ，「我不會進去看你的。因為我看到很多進去的腳印，但是沒有一個出來的。」
