上周，英語共學社的每日中譯英練習中出現了很多金融領域的概念術語，許多譯友翻譯得不準確。
其實，翻譯也要術業有專攻，但即便是某個領域的專業翻譯也不可避免地會遇到知識死角。此時，翻譯的「搜商」就是質量的關鍵保證。
本文作者為英語共學社6月群Eagles。他從搜索平行文本的角度詳細介紹了查證和使用專業術語及同類表達的方法。希望對各位有幫助。

個人認為，專業知識的學習很重要，特別是翻譯某些專業領域的內容，除了術語，表達法都必須專業，避免說外行話。不過，現在有了谷歌，一般性的不熟悉的專業知識，都可以通過搜索，找到類似的平行文本，迅速搞定。
簡單的說，平行文本（parallel text）是指與原文內容接近的中文或英文參考資料，一種平行文本是中英文對照，另外一種是單獨的英文或中文內容。
針對英文平行文本，最好的兩種方式，一個是維基百科wikipedia，特別適合定義；另外就是谷歌搜索，建議採取中文和英文關鍵詞並列的方式來搜索。
比如，關於英語共學社這次練習中出現的普通股的平行文本，普通股通常與優先股是兩個並列的概念（common stocks/preferred stock ），其中，優先股是增加的內容，但是我覺得有必要拓展—對於那些希望在某個領域深根的譯友，更是如此，積累很重要！
我從網上搜到了一些平行文本，讓我們一起來看看。
按股東承擔風險程度和享有權利的不同，股票可分為普通股和優先股
Stocks can be classified into many different categories. The two most fundamental categories of stock are commonstock and preferred stock, which differ in the rights that they confer upontheir owners.
這裡的平行文本，並非完全中英文嚴格對照的版本。
另外的一種表達法：
Common stock and preferred stock are the two main types of stocksthat are sold by companies and traded among investors on the open market. Eachtype gives stockholders a partial ownership in the company represented by the stock.
普通股是指在公司的經營管理和盈利及財產的分配上享有普通權利的股份，它代表在公司滿足所有權、債權償付及優先股東的收益權與求償權要求後，股東對公司盈利和剩餘財產的索取權。
Most shares of stock are called "common shares". If you own a share of common stock, then you are apartial owner of the company. You are also entitled to certain voting rightsregarding company matters. Typically, common stock shareholders receive one vote per share to elect the company's board of directors (although the number of votes is not always directly proportional to the number of shares owned). Inaddition to voting rights, common shareholders sometimes enjoy what are called "preemptive rights."
這兩個版本也不是完全對應，只是讓大家了解下平行文本的概念。
優先股是公司在籌集資金時，給予投資者某些享有優先權的股票。它主要表現在兩個方面：一是有固定的股息；二是當公司破產進行財產清算時優先股股東對公司剩餘財產有優先於普通股股東的要求權。但優先股股東一般不參加公司的紅利分配，持股人亦無表決權，不能藉助表決權參加公司的經營管理。
The other fundamental category of stock ispreferred stock. Like common stock,preferred stock represents partial ownership in a company, although preferred stock shareholders do not enjoy any of the voting rights of common stockholders. Also unlike common stock, preferred stock pays a fixed dividend that does not fluctuate, although the company does nothave to pay this dividend if it lacks the financial ability to do so. The mainbenefit to owning preferred stock is that you have a greater claim on the company's assets than common stockholders. Preferred shareholders always receive their dividends first and, in the event the company goes bankrupt, preferred shareholders are paid off before common stockholders.
這個是英文部分，稍微有些長，但都是從正規網站投資者上找到的，肯定沒有問題的。
練習中還出現了這個術語：MET，mandatory exchangeable trust，強制可轉換證券信託基金。下面也是通過這樣的搜索查到的和MET相關的術語：
（1）按剩餘索取權是否可以跨時期累積分為①累積優先股（Cumulative Preferred Stock） ②非累積優先股（Non-CumulativePreferred Stock）
（2）按剩餘索取權是不是股息和紅利的複合分為①參加優先股（Participating Preferred Stock） ②非參加優先股（Non-ParticipatingPreferred Stock）
（3）可轉換優先股（Convertible Preferred Stock）
（4）可贖回優先股（Callable Preferred Stock）
這些都相對專業，我想除非我們是專門做財經領域的翻譯才會用到這些詞，但對於個人了解我覺得還是有必要的。
找到了平行文本，其根本的目的是為了應用在我們的譯文中，即所謂「內化」。
講一個小小的例子吧。有一篇關於「孵化器」的一篇文章（中譯英），因為裡面涉及孵化器的定義和發展過程。
首先要知道「孵化器」 incubator。然後把這個詞放到谷歌裡，會看到維基百科裡有以下內容：
A business incubator in business speak is a company that helps new and startup companies to develop by providing services such as management training or office space.[1]
The formal concept of business incubation began in the USA in 1959 when Joseph Mancuso opened the Batavia Industrial Center in a Batavia, New York, warehouse.[2] Incubation expanded in the U.S. in the 1980s and spread to the UK and Europe through various related forms.
前面講的是概念，後面一段講的是起源。這樣基本對一些大的key words和語彙瞭然於胸了。
這個是要求翻譯的原文：
孵化器的概念最早出現在美國，是仿照人工孵化家禽的原理，由政府、私人及大學等機構發起成立的、為初創小企業提供靈活、低成本的租賃場地，以及較低的管理費用提供共享服務、職業諮詢和管理諮詢，並幫助其獲得啟動資金、原始資本的服務。
大家看是不是有些相同之處，至少可以借鑑一些表達法，比如：
孵化器 - business incubator
初創企業 - startup companies
孵化器的概念最早出現在美國 - The formal concept of business incubation began in the USA

The concept of Business Incubator originated in the United States of America. It is defined as a service launched and established by governments, private sector, universities and otherorganizations according to the principle of incubating poultry. 另外，分享一點個人的體會，就是在做稿的過程中，如果找到同類的參考文件，及時地存入自己的電腦硬碟，便於今後遇到類似的文件可以很快地處理。
