Paper Cutting-How skilled are your Fingertips?
Working people in ancient China were the first to create paper cuttings as we know them today.
All you need is a pair of scissors to make cute rabbits, vivid lotus flowers and complex words.
Paper cuttings are most often used to display on windows. You can also use them for weddings.
The double Xi character in red is a good symbol to have at weddings.
In addition, you can also see them on shoes, clothing and doors.

Why is porcelain called 『china』in the West?
As we all know, our country and porcelain are both called 'China' in English. What is the connection?
In history, the word 'China' first referred to the country.
After porcelain was introduced to the West, the Westerners called it 'chinaware' , referring to Chinese handicrafts.
Later, people removed 'ware' from the name, shortening it to 'China' - the common name for porcelain from the country of China.

The Origin of Shadow Puppetry
Shadow puppetry has a history of more than 2,000 years! Do you know its origin?
It is said that the emperor of Han-wu loved a woman called Li very much.
He could not do anything when she died of ilness.
Shaoweng, the minister, saw dolls being played with by children...he had a brilliant idea!
He cut cloth into Li's shape, painted it with colors, and put wooden sticks on the hands and feet.
After dark, Shaoweng set up a curtain, lit a candle, and invited the emperor to sit in front of it.
After the show, the emperor was overjoyed and fell in love with this art form.
This love story was later written about in the Book of Han.
