India is more like the Middle East, more esp. the eastern end of the Middle East, often considered the southern part of Central Asia-Iran, Afghanistan, and esp. Pakistan, although India and Pakistan are not really on friendly terms, and would detest the notion that they are very similar, much of the time…
I dunno… Indians seem to spend a good deal of time cooking and eating/not rushing through meals, spending time with family and friends, working of course, and just having a good time. They like big get-togethers, parties, weddings, etc., many of which are more family-oriented… I think they tend to be a bit more laid-back than most, calm and methodical/thoughtful, friendly, kindly, good listeners, patient, reflective, peaceful, etc., but yes, there are the bad apples as well of course, scammers, etc.
China is, like Japan and Korea, kind of a 「workaholic」 nation… :-D Work, work, work. Study, study, study. Get A’s ONLY. Nothing but the very best efforts/work ethic in music, martial arts, science, math, gymnasics/other athletics and dance (but not so much team sports, etc.), computer science, technology, and so on. The Chinese are very 「close-knit」 family-wise, but are very likely to have less time for recreational pursuits compared to Indians (work, work, work…), and can seem a bit 「terse」, pushy, extremely focused, etc. at times. Both cultures place strong emphasis on respecting one’s elders, esp. China. The 「traditions」, etc. may also be more socially, even governmentally enforced in China, compared to India, dep. on the region, even though castes still exist in India… The Chinese are just somewhat more busybody-ish, direct, and kind of 「intense」, compared to Indians on the whole.
I’m sure there are others who could give better answers than I could. But there is no mistaking the Indian civility, friendliness and leisureliness, compared with Chinese focus, work ethic and discipline, etc.

Big differences.
1.If you are a girl, you could dress what you want to go to the street alone and it's safety in China .However ,in India if you dress a little less such as a mini skirt or just a T shirt in the public, you will be stared at by men with offensive eyes.
2.The majority of Chinese do not have the religion belief while Indian do.
3.Indian citizens are divided into 5 classes strictly, which named the caste system. The lower class people have no human rights in front of the senior class. But it's equal to every one in China.
4.China is much more cleaner, cleaner and cleaner than India.

All cultural differences are there in China and India.
We mostly use cereals and other vegetables along with some meat…
They use sea food and what what and what not..
We use our hand they use chopstick ..
Our dressing entirely different..
Even heat and turban are totally different.
They were predominantly buddhist before communalism and we are mix of religion and buddhist are no more than a few percent.
But some cultural and historical similarities are there as well.
Both population were not expansionist in past and suffered many foreign invasions.
Respecting every religion was tradition in china as well.

A discernible great difference between China and India lies in religion. In China, generally, religion is a factor that could be ignored in everyday life.
In China, we don't have such thing as the caste system. An funny saying from China is like, "everybody could become emperor, and I'll be one the next year."
In China, people prefer chopsticks while eating. In India, bare hands are more popular.
In China, people believe the dead should be buried in the earth. Even though cremation is enforced by the government, people still choose to bury the ashes.
In China, education is more valued. The illiteracy rate in China is much lower than that in India.

In a traditional Chinese wedding, the family of the fiance should pay an amount of money to the family of the fiancée.
In a traditional Indian wedding, the family of the fiancée should pay an amount of money to the family of the fiance.
