In recent years, "busy" has become the keyword for many Zhengzhou people. Chinese people have been busier than ever in the past year, with an average leisure time of 2.42 hours per day, about 25 minutes less than the 2.84 hours in 2018, according to the 2019-2020 China’s Economic Life Survey. Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Hohhot, Xining, Guangzhou, Harbin, Urumqi, Nanjing and Yinchuan are the top 10 busiest cities in China. Leisure time in these cities is below the national average.

這些年，「忙」成了很多鄭州人生活的主旋律。近日，《中國經濟生活大調查（2019—2020）》發布結果顯示，過去一年裡，中國人整體比以前更忙了，每天的平均休閒時間是2.42小時，比2018年的2.84小時少了25分鐘左右。石家莊、鄭州、西安、呼和浩特、西寧、廣州、哈爾濱、烏魯木齊、南京和銀川成為「中國忙碌十大城市」。這些城市的休閒時間均低於全國平均水平。

Zhengzhou is among the top three in the country, which means people in Zhengzhou are busier than those in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. So what are these people busy with?

In 2000, the aggregate economic output of Zhengzhou reached 73.8 billion yuan, ranking 29th in China; in 2005, it was 166.06 billion yuan, ranking 25th in China; in 2011, it was 497.98 billion yuan, ranking 20th in China; in 2015, it was 731.15 billion yuan, ranking 18th in China; in 2018, it was 1,067.01 billion yuan, ranking 16th in China; in 2019, it was 1,158.97 billion yuan, ranking 15th in China.

2000年鄭州經濟總量738億元，全國排名29位；2005年1660.6億元，排名25位；2011年4979.8億元，排名20位；2015年7311.5億元，排名18位；2018年10670.1億元，排名16位；2019年11589.7億元，排名15位。

It can be said that in the past two decades, Zhengzhou has been busy with economic development. Zhengzhou is now one of the "Top 100 Competitive Cities in the Global Economy" and one of the "Top 100 Business-friendly Cities in the World". Its economic aggregate ranks the 15th in China.

可以說，鄭州這20年來，都在忙經濟發展。如今的鄭州，躋身「全球經濟競爭力城市100強」，入圍「全球營商環境友好城市百強」榜，經濟總量居全國第15位。

In the Zhengzhou 2020 National Economic and Social Development Planreleased recently, Zhengzhou's main economic and social development targets for 2020 are proposed as follows: GDP should grow by around 6.5%; revenue in general public budgets should rise by around 7%; per capita disposable income should increase in step with economic growth; CPI increase should be kept at around 3.5%; the total investment in research and development should increase by about 15%; the registered unemployment rate should be kept below 4%; targets for energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection should meet the national and provincial targets.

Zhengzhou has obvious advantages over other cities in China in terms of abundant human resources, reasonable market radiation and strong carrying capacity of the existing space. Therefore, Zhengzhou has been making great efforts to develop high-tech industries and high-tech manufacturing supported by a large number of high-quality labor forces, and taking the initiative to undertake the transfer of manufacturing industries from eastern coastal areas and foreign advanced manufacturing industries. High-quality development of the manufacturing sector has shown strong momentum. Meanwhile, the development of a modern service industry in Zhengzhou is also improving. In 2019, for example, the added value of Zhengzhou's financial sector exceeded 120 billion yuan, accounting for 18% of the service sector. There were 4 new listed companies, 2 companies listed on the "New Third Board", and 6 new varieties listed on Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange. Online retail sales increased by 18.5%, the revenue of express delivery increased by 16.6% and the added value of logistics increased by 9.5%. It welcomed 130 million domestic and foreign visitors during the year, up 14.5%, and achieved a total tourism revenue of 159.89 billion yuan, up 15.2%. These are the results of several measures taken by Zhengzhou in recent years to promote the high-quality development of the service sector.

Building itself into a smart city

Zhengzhou's digital economy has made remarkable achievements in recent years. Alibaba, Hikvision, CEC and the TSINGHUA UNIGROUP have settled in Zhengzhou. Construction has begun on the Henan Province Supercomputing Center and Central Plains Kunpeng Ecological Innovation Center. The core area of the National Big Data Pilot Zone has achieved an output value of 30 billion yuan. The next generation information network and information technology services have been included in the list of the country's first batch of strategic emerging industrial clusters. Construction of the digital Zhengzhou City Brain project has begun.

It has won 1 State Technological Invention Award and 5 National Science and Technology Progress Awards, accounting for 40% of the province’s total. Zhengzhou has 11 newly recognized academician workstations and 3 national enterprise technology centers. Zhejiang University, the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have established new R&D institutions in Zhengzhou. The total investment in research and development has increased by 16.8%, and 726 new high-tech enterprises have been established, a total of 2,048, up by 55%.

Over the past few years, the "Four Silk Roads" of Zhengzhou have been developing in coordination, the construction of ports has been strengthened, the Zhengzhou Area of China (Henan) Pilot Free Trade Zone has been making innovative achievements, and the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone has become an important window and platform for foreign exchanges, with fruitful results in attracting investment.

In 2019, Zhengzhou introduced 223.5 billion yuan of foreign and domestic funds, an increase of 6%. It introduced six of the world's top 500 companies and actually attracted 4.4 billion US dollars of foreign investment, up 5%. SAIC Global Data Center, the global second headquarters of APUS and other emerging industries settled in Zhengzhou.

2019年，鄭州引進域外境內資金2235億元，增長6%。引進世界500強企業6家，實際吸收外資44億美元，增長5%。上汽全球數據中心、APUS全球第二總部等新興產業項目紛紛落地。

Becoming a National Ecological Garden City

忙·掛牌國家生態園林城市

On June 30, Zhengzhou was officially listed as a national ecological garden city. After years of unremitting efforts, Zhengzhou has finally realized its dream of becoming a "National Ecological Garden City", making itself the first provincial capital or above in the region north of the Yangtze River to receive this honor.

6月30日，鄭州正式掛牌國家生態園林城市，又多了一個「國字號」名片。至此，經過多年不懈努力，鄭州市「國家生態園林城市」的創建夢終於實現了，成為長江以北地區首個獲此殊榮的省會及以上城市。

During the past few years, Zhengzhou has been advancing ecological civilization, and focusing on creating an ecological spatial pattern of "three circles, one belt, nine rivers and thirty-one corridors", with remarkable achievements made in urban ecological construction. Zhengzhou is now a green city with a network of greenways with a total length of 3,588 kilometers. Green space grows at a rate of no less than 10 million square meters per year. It has built the 1,785-mu Zhengzhou Garden Expo Park, 10,000-mu Longhu Ecological Culture Park, 3,200-mu Xianghu Ecological Wetland Park, 2,800-mu Longzi Lake Plant Park, as well as the Ecological Culture Park along the South-to-North Water Diversion project, and successfully held the 11th Zhengzhou International Garden Expo.

這幾年，鄭州市深入推進生態文明建設，著力打造「三圈、一帶、九水、三十一廊」生態空間格局，城市生態建設成效顯著。現在的鄭州，綠意盎然，擁有全長3588公裡的綠道網絡系統，綠地面積每年以不少於1000萬平方米的速度增長，已建成1785畝的園博園、萬畝龍湖生態文化公園、3200畝象湖生態溼地公園、2800畝龍子湖植物公園、南水北調帶狀生態文化公園等大型綜合性公園，並成功舉辦了中國（鄭州）第十一屆園林博覽會。
