egg是雞蛋,apple是蘋果,但egg appple可不是「雞蛋蘋果」

egg on one's  face 用來表示丟臉；狼狽不堪

例句：

He had egg on his face for he lost the game to a child.

他在比賽中輸給了一個小孩，感覺很難堪。

Everyone passed the exam but me,I had egg on my face.

除我之外，每個人都通過了考試，我丟臉了。

字面意思是「啤酒裡加雞蛋」，實際指的是「得寸進尺」。二戰時被美國大兵廣泛使用，戰時雞蛋和啤酒都很缺，能有一樣就很不錯了
