The Meili Snow Mountain range involves a group of snow mountains stretching from north to south in the conjunction area between Yunnan Province and Tibetan Autonomous Region.
The mountains』 peak Kawagebo or Kawagarbo, which towers 6740 meters above the sea level, is the highest point in Yunnan Province.
Tibetan Buddhists believe the Meili Snow Mountain is one of the eight holy mountains in the Tibetan region. Therefore, pilgrimage around it is a long-cherished dream to Buddhists.
There were two ring routes to pilgrimage around Meili snow mountain— the major route and the minor route. It takes one four to six days to finish the minor route, but pilgrimage along the major route, with a mileage over 150 kilometers, makes a ten-day odyssey as the elevation, landscape and weather conditions vary greatly.
Although the pilgrimage through major route is difficult to accomplish, a large number of believers still choose the route to express their piety. In addition, the route offers a panoramic view of the natural landscapes in the region, such as lakes, waterfalls, virgin forests, glaciers, meadows, gorges and so on.
For mass tourists, September and October are best season to circle the Meili Snow Mountain. Big temperature differences in a day, complicated geological conditions, and other challenges in the wilderness are inevitable hardships of circling the Meili Snow Mountain. Day 2 Ganden SumtselingMonastery - Napa Lake - Du Ke Zong
Morning, take a pilgrimage to Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the "Small PotalaPalace". Currently housing 500+ lamas, the monastery is the central holyplace for Tibetan Buddhism in the Shangri La Valley.
Visit Napa Lake. Every May, millions of flowers blossom. They act as thebackdrop of Tibetan life.
Afternoon, wander on the ancient paths of Du Ke Zong and get lost in time. Visit aLocal Tibetan family and drink some Zanba.
Ganden Sumtseling MonasteryTemple
Built in 1679, themonastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan province anda masterwork of classical Tibetan architecture.

Day 3 Shangri-La –Shika Snow Mountain - Deqin - Flying Temple – Meili Snow Mountain
Morning, watch the famed "Jinsha River Turn". Continue to journey to Shika Snow Mountain. Itis believed to bring luck among the Tibetan people.
Afternoon, make a pilgrimage to MeliSnow Mountain, the holiest mountain in Yunnan Tibetan area. Its peak is as highas 6710 meters. Exploring Meli Snow Mountain is on every backpacker's to-dolist.
Explore the famed FlyingTemple, which appears in a lot of Chinese ancient literature.

Day 4 Flying Temple -Mingyong Glacier – Yu Beng Village
Morning, watch the first beam ofmorning light drops on Melli Snow Mountain and feel the majesty of MingyongGlacier.
Drive to Yu Beng Village -a place famous among adventurous backpackers. There are only around 20 familiesliving in this Lost World. From here, you can see the Cavag Bo Peak of MeiliSnow Mountain.

Yu Beng Village
Yu Beng Village is a hidden gem in Deqin region, in North West Yunnan.Reaching Yu Beng requires a long steep 8km hike. You have to walk all the waythere in a cold and dark forest, because only a motorbike or a crazy taxi inthe Chinese land rover copy can make it up there. After reaching the peakof the hike (3700m), you will go down 600m in 3kms to reach Yu Beng valley. Onthe way down, the massive pine tree hills slowly open up and you start seeingthe mountain peaks in front of you, signs your pain is almost over. On theother side of these 6000m+ peaks is Tibet.

Day 5 Yu Beng Village –Sacred Waterfall – Yu Beng Village
Today we hike to Yu Beng'sSacred Waterfall, which has an important stance among the local Tibetan people.We will hike 12.6 KM today.

The Tibetans believe thatgoing under this freezing Sacred Waterfalls flowing from icy cold Glacier wouldget rid of all your sins. You then have to dry naturally.

Day 6 Yu Beng Village -Xi Dang – Shangri-La - Airport
Today we hike out of Yu Beng Village and head back to Xi Dang. We willhike 8 hours to Xi Dang and drive 4 hours back to Shangri-La.
