學了這麼久英語，相信大家都熟悉a piece of cake是「小菜一碟」的意思。
但以下幾個「秀色可餐」的俚語又有什麼弦外之音呢？

bread winner
養家餬口的人
麵包是美國人和歐洲人的基本食品，就像我們每天都要吃米飯一樣。
在有些俗語中，bread還有另一種意思。
譬如bread winner，直譯為贏得麵包的人，似乎有點難以理解。結合麵包對歐美人生活的重要性，它還可以用來形容「負擔家計的人、養家餬口的人」
I've always paid the bills and been the breadwinner.
我一直支付家庭開銷，並且一直是養家的人。
I was a bread winner when I was nineteen. I did odds and sods to get things by any means.
我19歲就挑起了家庭的重擔。我想方設法，幹各種雜活去養家活口。
not my cup of tea
非我所愛
Windy有一次去相親，回來後媽媽詢問男方怎麼樣，Windy說：「我們不合適，他不是我的那杯茶！」
奇妙的是，英文裡也用not my cup of tea表達「非我所愛」的意思。
We break up. You are not my cup of tea!
我們分手吧，你不是我的那杯茶！
Fishing is really not my cup of tea, so I'll stay home this weekend.
釣魚不是我的愛好，所以這個周末我就待在家裡好了。
pie in the sky
空口的許諾
Elly有一句口頭禪："It is pie in the sky."這是痴人說夢！
pie是餡餅的意思，想像一下，遼闊的天上有一塊渺小的餡餅，所以它可以引申為難以付諸實施的計劃、空口的許諾。
Do not give me any pie in the sky, just tell me the truth.
別對我講那些不著邊際的話，把真實情況告訴我。
Your idea is just pie in the sky.
你的想法是不太可能實現的。
