說到買菜，大家都不陌生，但是說到「買菜」的英語，你是不是會想當然地以為是「buy vegetables」。
但這其實只是單純表達了買蔬菜的意思，而我們出去買的菜，並不只有蔬菜，而是雞鴨魚肉、五穀雜糧都有涉及，所以我們所說的「買菜」的「菜」是一個統稱。它的正確表達是：

這個詞在英式英語和美式英語裡也有一些小區別。英式英語是「grocery shop」，而美式英語則是「grocery store」。

1.除了這種說法，還可以說「get groceries」買菜。

hypermarket指的是特大型的自選超市，多位於城外，商品的種類非常多，可以滿足大部分人的生活需要。
rural fair[rrl fer] 農村集市
fair是農畜產品的集市，出售的商品多為農產品和動物，是英國人經常使用的單詞。
在美式英語裡，fair還可以表示產品的展銷會，antiques fair就是古董展銷會。
These eggs and cabbages will be sold in the fair tomorrow.
