霸榜神曲《Old Town Road》原來那麼勵志

今天和你們聊聊Old Town Road這首歌，在Billboard Top100等榜單霸榜了很久啊。

"Old Town Road" was recorded by American rapper Lil Nas X. It was initially released in December last year, and later became a smash on social video sharing app TikTok. 

TikTok就是抖音國際版。沒想到還是在抖音火起來的。

Justin Bieber還在Instagram助推了。

He hopped on Instagram to announce his latest musical crush to his 106 million followers, saying 「This shit bangs.」

一開始還納悶為什麼那麼火，一直重複唱的這兩句到底想表達什麼：

Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road

騎著我的馬馳騁在這舊城老路

I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more

我要騎到精疲力盡為止

後來才了解到，原來Lil Nas X當時剛剛大一輟學，在父母的反對和各種壓力下鬱鬱寡歡，寫下了這首歌。

Lil Nas X said he wrote "Old Town Road" while he was living with his sister after he』d left home and dropped out of school. 

He said,

"My parents were disappointed in me for leaving school to do music, so it was like a loner cowboy narrative."  

所以其實在他歌詞裡的horse（馬）意味著「not having much」，就像當時一無所有的自己。

而「old town road」意味著「The path to success」，通往成功之路。

"Can’t nobody tell me nothing" is referring to his parents: They want him to go back to school, but never think if that likely for him to make it.

Alright, now it makes sense. 

所以歌詞很多這種表示，

親愛的她愛上了買鑽戒和芬迪運動內衣

在Rodeo（一條路，路兩邊是奢侈品店）開著我拉風的瑪莎拉蒂跑車

我毫無壓力 我一直都是這樣生活

I'm like a Marlboro Man so I kick on back

我就像廣告裡抽著萬寶路香菸的男人 肆意自由

Wish I could roll on back to that old town road

真希望我還能回到那舊城老路

I wanna ride 'til I can't no more

我要騎到精疲力盡為止

不在乎別人的評價、不被物質所困擾，我依舊走我的舊城老路。

而這種堅持並不容易，當時19歲的Lil Nas X輟學追求音樂事業遭到了父母的強烈反對。

His dad was like, 「There’s a million rappers in this industry, how can you succeed?」 

就像我們很多傳統父母想的，擔心輟學後你找不到工作，你註定會失敗。

So Lil Nas X was very stressful. 

He was living with his sister at that time sleeping on the floor. He knew if he came back home his parents would be mad at him. And he had headaches, almost daily. 

寧願睡姐姐家的地板，也不想回家面對父母。每天只睡三小時。剩下的時間都用來創作。

Lil Nax X felt like he was out of options. He said that he wanted to leave everything behind, and just write the song.

有種背水一戰的感覺啊。「我什麼都沒有了，只有音樂了。我想用音樂，向你們證明我可以。」

沒想到這首歌還那麼勵志。

所以啊很多時候你感覺受挫的時候，也恰恰是你的轉折點。
