張若虛一首《春江花月夜》，可謂孤篇蓋全唐。而上個世紀七十年代老鷹樂隊的《加州旅館》也可以說是一曲蓋過美國搖滾樂。十幾年前就聽到這首歌，剛開始只聽懂了「1969」、「他說」、「歡迎來到加州旅館」這些片段。不明白歌詞具體含義，不知是喜還是悲，只知道旋律比較好聽，前奏跟尾奏都比較牛逼，隱隱感覺到一種吶喊和迷離。而吶喊則是搖滾最主要的一種表現形式之一，迷離是一種搖滾的意境。還是來看看歌詞：

歌詞中的意向營造出一種醉生夢死的感覺，有迷茫、有痛苦，有香車和美酒，有大麻，有美景和美女，也有壓抑與放縱，更有著一種深深的無奈感。但好像還不止這些，這也是這首歌的迷人之處。香車美女、酒和大麻正如人的心魔即欲望，這些東西使人慾罷不能，讓人沉迷，給你快樂也給你痛苦和無奈。
雖然你什麼時候結帳離開加州旅館都可以，但你永遠無法離開。在這裡加州旅館成了一個象徵，心不得解脫，就永遠無法離開。歌曲前面的吶喊歌唱是必然王國，到後面的吉他solo慢慢地進入了自由王國，釋放後得到了解放。所謂的藝術有時候就是長久壓抑後的暢快感，從必然王國觸摸到了自由王國，猶如憋了一泡尿，撒完之後那一激靈。
