就算是初學英語的小夥伴，應該也認識something這個詞。
Something表示一些東西，比如說I have something to share with you，我有一些東西要和你分享。
但是美國人說You are something可不是說你是個什麼東西啊！天大的誤會！
這句英語表達非常非常的口語化，而且是一句誇獎人的表達喲。
You are something
我們看一下對應的英文解釋吧：
If you say that a person or thing is something or is really something, you mean that you are very impressed by them.
當我們說到某人或者是某事是something的時候，暗含的意思就是so amazing太棒了，太了不得了，這個時候我們就會用到You are something或者It is something這個英語表達。
來看一下下面的這些英語句子吧，首先我們誇誇人：
Oh, man! She can speak 10 languages! She is really something!哦，天哪！她會說10種語言！了不起!
然後我們說說東西：
The doors here are really something, all made of good wood like mahogany.這些門真是極品，全部由紅木一類的優質木材加工而成。
當然也可以描述一些事情：
- I hope we get a chance to meet the band after the concert.- Yeah, now that would be really something!- 我希望我們能在音樂會後有機會見到樂隊。- 是啊，那可就真了不起了！
但是！
下面兩個英語場景，你品品，是不是有點不同的味道？
Wow, that new phone is really something! It has a long-lasting battery, warp-speed processing and even wireless charging.哇，那部新手機真棒！電池壽命長，處理速度快，甚至還有無線充電功能。
再看同樣類似的一句話，放到下面這個英語場景：
My new phone broke the first day I had it. It’s really something!我的新手機第一天就壞了。這真的很了不起，太了不起，非常了不起了！
* 很明顯這又是個反諷。
之前咱們也說過，和中文一樣，英文中很多誇人的句子，只要口氣一變都能變成諷刺表達，所以一定要注意說話的語氣哦。不然好心被誤解那就尷尬了喲。
