Yingde is located in the southeast of the Nanling Mountains and the north-central region of Guangdong Province. The city, on the middle reaches of the Beijiang River (a tributary of the Pearl River), is the province's largest prefecture-level city. It has been praised as "Hometown of Chinese Black Tea", "Hometown of Chinese Yingde Stone", "Hometown of Chinese Female Football Players" and "the Hometown of Ma Bamboo Shoots". Yingde, with the ancient name of the Yingzhou, has been known as the "Lingnan Ancient Town」. It is the historical and cultural city of Guangdong Province with over 7000 years of human history and more than 2000 years of institutional history. It is the place where Central Plain culture and Lingnan culture interact and interweave and many historical celebrities have left their footprints. Ge Hong, a famous Chinese alchemist once made pills of immortality in Bi Luo Cave; Mi Fu, awell-known artist, once served as an official governing states including Yingde; Su Shi, also known as Su Tungpo, travelled to Ying Zhou for twice; ZhangJiuling and Yang Wanli travelled along Zhen River; Wen Tianxiang sailed a boat through Yingde. Yingde possesses good environment and various food specialties. Firstly, series of green vegetables including cabbage, black wax gourd, lotus root, pueraria, Ma bamboo shoots, and red onionand so on. Secondly, the village dishes, such as Yingde Zou Di (free range)chicken, village pork, tofu, yuba, Qingtang rice noodles and so on. They can bemade into traditional Hakka village food.
