Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to create another history, and it is something which will place India within the top ranks of space domination. India’s first ever mission to Venus has been planned, Govt. has not only approved of it, but also allocated funds for the same.

While the spacecraft to Venus will lift off with more than 20 payloads, the next decade will start with interplanetary missions — Xposat to study cosmic radiation in 2020, Aditya L1 to the Sun in 2021, Mars Orbiter Mission-2 in 2022, Lunar Polar Exploration or Chandrayaan-3 in 2024 and Exoworlds, an exploration outside the solar system in 2028.

The facts about Venus and Mars mission has been observed within the Budget 2017 documents, wherein PM Modi has approved an increase of 23% budget allocated to ISRO for space research. The budget document, under the section of space science mentions provisions for 「Mars Orbiter Mission II and Mission to Venus」.

Venus is considered to be earth’s 『twin sister』 because of its similarities in mass, size, composition, density and gravity. The mission to the planet will focus on studying the surface and its sub-surface, atmospheric chemistry and the interactions with solar radiation or solar winds.

But that is not all as ISRO has revealed that they are thinking of doing much more than the Chandrayaan-2 and the Gaganyaan manned mission.

In an interview to reporters during the Yuvika-Young Scientist Programme for school students at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Dr K Sivan, ISRO Chief said, "The missions would include Mars Orbiter Mission 2, Chandrayaan 3, a mission to Venus, Exposat Planetary exploration, Aditya L1 among others," adding as well that the Indian space agency was working on a whopping seven planetary missions for the next decade.

The chief also mentioned Mission Aditya L1 which is slated to launch during mid-2020 in order to study the Corona of the Sun. He also added that doing so will help understanding climate change.

The Aditya L1 and EXPO Sat mission are defined and okayed, the Mars Orbiter and Chandrayaan 3 are in their planning stage. ISRO chief Dr Sivan stated that post the planning stage, it will be formed as a project and they will lead it.

The launch may happen earlier than planned, as Sivan said the spacecraft will lift off by mid-2020 and will be placed in a 『libration orbit』, which is about 1.5 million km from Earth , where the gravity of the two celestial objects equalises. Placing it in such an orbit allows the spacecraft to circle along with the earth, thereby constantly facing Sun.

In a presentation made during the 60th session of United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, Isro scientists had said that Xposat will be a five-year mission, carrying a polarimeter instrument made by Raman Research Institute to measure cosmic radiation. The spacecraft will be placed in a circular 500-700km orbit.

India’s second Moon mission that is planned for a July launch will have 13 payloads and one passive experiment from American space agency NASA, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said Wednesday.
