我都知道，till表示「直到......」，until也是這個意思，注意拼寫哦,實際上，兩個詞在很多時候是可以互換的，但是有些時候，你只能用until而不能用till：
Until the last day of the season, we had been working there for a whole year.
到這個季節的最後一天，我們已經在那裡工作了一整年。
Not until mom had come back did he went sleep.
直到媽媽回來，他才睡。
我們可以認為，在句首的時候，只用until，因為until比till顯得鄭重其事，Not until 開始的句子，需要倒裝，把not until 放在句首，本身具有強調作用，故而還要用比較正式的until。
那麼，為什麼上兩句中只能用until 而不用till呢？這和它們倆的含義有關係，用英國與法學家的話來說，如果你講話的時候使用 till表示「直到一個事件發生之時」，而在這個時刻之後，這個發生的動作還將維持進行；而如果你使用 until 表示「直到一個事件發生之時」，這個時刻之後呢，起碼在說話的人看來，動作或將終止。
另外，對於初學英語的人來說，not...until...這個固定的搭配，是你必須掌握的一個句型。我們先看例子，再解釋用法：
1. He didn't go to bed until he had finished his work.
他直到完成工作才上床睡覺。
2. The workers won't go on work until they get their wages.
工人們直到得到薪水才願意繼續工作。
在這種句型中，until後面的的動作，是一個剛剛結束的動作。在例子1中，「完成工作」結束，「上床睡覺」才開始；例子2中，直到拿到錢，之後才願意幹活。
由於以上原因，not...until...句型，可以用 when 或者 after 引導的時間狀語來做句型轉換，比如：
I didn't get off until the bus got to the terminal station.
= When the bus got to the terminal station, I got off.
=I got off after the bus got to the terminal station.
直到汽車到達終點站，我才下車。
