三 Notes on the text & [課文注釋]
[1] There is 的結構用來說明人或物的存在，在漢語中可以譯為「有」，這個結構要跟單數名詞，句中往往要有一個介詞短語來表示位置或地點。
[2]on the right/left ，在右邊/左邊，是介詞短語，在本句中作表語。
[3]注意不要把cooker和cook混淆，cooker是爐子、鍋等炊具，不是「炊事員」。炊事員在英語中是cook。
[4] in the middle of ， 在……之間。
[5] 課文中refrigerator一詞出現了兩次，它前面分別用了兩種不同的冠詞：a（不定冠詞）和the（定冠詞）。第1次提到時用不定冠詞a，冰箱是第一次提到，是指冰箱這類電器中的一個。第2次時就不再是泛指任何一個，而是特指所指的那個冰箱了，因此要用定冠詞the。

[2] the的基本用法：
A the通常有明確的所指（即以說話人或聽話人已知的人或物為前提）；
