美國國家航空航天局（National Aeronautics and Space Administration，NASA）是美國聯邦政府的一個獨立機構，負責制定、實施美國的民用太空計劃、與開展航空科學和空間科學的研究。1958年7月29日，美國總統艾森豪籤署了《美國公共法案85-568》，創立了國家NASA航空和太空管理局，於當年10月開始運作。
為紀念NASA創立60周年，北京美國中心將在學習資源中心放映電影「阿波羅13號」。該影片由環球影片公司於1995年出品，由朗·霍華德執導，凱文·貝肯、湯姆·漢克斯等主演，是一部取材真實事件的災難片，腳本的依據是當事人的回憶錄《與月球失之交臂》。阿波羅13號是阿波羅計劃中的第七次載人任務，發射於1970年4月11日。阿波羅13號在計劃中是第3次登月的任務，但是由於飛船在抵達月球前發生的氧氣罐爆炸，電力和氧氣均大量損失，所以登月計劃被放棄，3名太空人最終成功返回地球。

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) isan independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federalgovernment responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronauticsand aerospace research. President Dwight D. Eisenhower established NASA in 1958with a distinctly civilian (rather than military) orientation encouragingpeaceful applications in space science. The National Aeronautics and Space Actwas passed on July 29, 1958, the new agency became operational on October 1,1958.
In honor of 60 years』 anniversary of NASA establishment, theBeijing American Center proudly presents a screening of the film 「Apollo 13」. Apollo13 is a 1995 American space docudrama film directed by Ron Howard and starringTom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, and Ed Harris. The film dramatizesthe aborted 1970 Apollo 13 lunar mission, is an adaptation of the book 「LostMoon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13」. The film depicts astronauts Lovell,Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise aboard Apollo 13 for America's third Moon landingmission. En route, an on-board explosion deprives their spacecraft of most ofits oxygen supply and electric power, forcing NASA's flight controllers toabort the Moon landing, and turning the mission into a struggle to get thethree men home safely.
