唐代太醫署
The Bureau of Imperial Physicians in the Tang dynasty
In the year of 624, the founder of the Tang dynasty LI-Yuan announced to establish the Bureau of Imperial Physicians in the capital city of Chang-an (now Xi-an).The functions of the Bureau include administration, teaching and medical practice, and the bureau consists of four types of staff in administration,teaching, clinical practice and pharmaceuticals. The first line on top of the board involves administration posts, and the next line involves the teaching posts such as professors and assistant lecturers. The courses of the Bureau ofImperial Physicians include medical subjects (sports training, pediatrics, ulcerations, ear-eye-mouth-tooth department and horn cupping), acupuncture, massage and shamanic methods」. The length of schooling can be 3, 4, 5 or 7years. The Bureau of Imperial Physicians is one of the earliest medicalinstitutions organized by the government in the world.

公元624年,在京都長安,唐高祖下令正式建立太醫署。太醫署具有行政、教學和醫療職能,由行政、教學、醫療、藥工四部分人組成。牌匾上面一行太醫令、丞等是行政職務,下面一行博士、助教等是教學職務。太醫署的學習科目有醫科(包括體療、少小、瘡腫、耳目口齒、角法)、針科、按摩科、咒禁科等。學制有七年、五年、四年、三年。太醫署是世界上較早由政府開辦的醫藥院校。
