我們常說的 on the air 指的是電視，廣播等表示正在直播。

例：Three，two，one，we『re on the air。

3，2，1，我們開始直播。

clear the air 打消疑惑

clear清除，air空氣，連起來to clear the air清除兩人間不愉快的氣氛，其實就是「消除隔閡」的意思。

例：Let's discuss this frankly。 It』ll be better if we clear the air。

看時間 tell time

看時間，英語怎麼說？很多小夥伴會用watch time ，see time 來表達，但正確的表達是 tell time ，tell在這裡不止有告訴的意思，還有知道，辨別的意思。所以，tell time 就是根據鐘錶來辨別時間。

例：The clock stops telling time。

這表不走了。

dog's life 寒酸狼狽的日子

dog's life 並不是說狗的生活怎麼樣，而是形容某人活得像只狗，過得像狗一樣寒酸狼狽。這個說法起源於16世紀，人們說起dog’s life就是去形容狗在當時的處境十分難堪，演變至今，就用來表示某人活得寒酸狼狽，豬狗不如。

例：He's been leading a dog’s life since his wife left him。

他老婆跑了之後，他就過得寒酸狼狽。

老顧客 regular customer

英文表達中，說老顧客不會採用old customer 這個說法，而是用regular customer，表示常客。

例：I'm a regular customer there。

我是那兒的老顧客。
