描述一個人的外表聽起來很簡單，但能否正確係統地描述關鍵的身體細節和獨特的特徵是很困難的。

Step 1 :
Identify them as male or female when appropriate.
識別性別
在很多情況下，這是顯而易見的，並且很可能是你要注意的第一件事。然而，並不是每個人都符合這些類別，除非必要，通常最好不要做假設。
例如，如果你想向警察描述一個嫌疑犯，你可能會說：
「They looked like a man to me, but I can’t be certain.」

Step 2 :
Take note of their skin color, and guess a race or ethnicity if needed.

You can stick to just describing the color of their skin, using terms like 「olive,」 「pale,」「dark brown,」 and so on.

Estimate their age range within 5 or 10 year increments.

Step 4 :
Give their height either descriptively or by estimating.

If you only get a quick glimpse of someone, the best you』ll probably be able to do is put them in a general height category like 「very tall, 「tall,」 「average,」 「short,」 or 「very short.」
如果你只是匆匆瞥了某人一眼，你可能能做的最好的事情就是把他們歸入一般身高類別，比如「非常高」、「高」、「中等」、「矮」或「非常矮」。
Step 5:
Describe their weight with terms like 「thin,」 「average,」 and 「large build.」

還應注意到不同國家不同文化的選詞問題。
For instance, calling a woman 「plump」is somewhat more polite in British English than American English, where it’s better to stick with 「large」 or perhaps 「curvy.」
例如，在英式英語中稱女性為「豐滿的」比在美式英語中稱女性為「豐滿的」要禮貌一些，美式英語中使用「豐滿的」或者「曲線優美的」更好。
Step 6:
Mention their overall appearance as tactfully as possible.
儘可能委婉地提及他們的整體形象
美是因人而異的，所以你對「漂亮」的看法可能與別人不一樣。描述時要注意策略！
例如：
把你覺得不好看的人稱為「普通」「ordinary」or 「plain,」 而不是 「普通」「ugly.」
用「不整齊的」「scruffy」或「unkempt」來代替「凌亂的」 「messy.」。
用「有魅力的」「attractive」來表示好看，而不是「beautiful」、「gorgeous」，甚至可能是「handsome」。
