不光咱們中國人對網絡小說著迷，美國人也深陷其中不可自拔。
這不，有個美國小夥為了看中國玄幻小說，竟然把毒都戒了！

這兩天，一則關於美國小夥沉迷中國玄幻小說不能自拔、竟成功戒掉毒癮的新聞刷屏網絡……
據《南方周末》報導，美國小夥凱文·卡扎德失戀後用毒品自我麻醉，偶然接觸到中國玄幻小說《盤龍》（Coiling Dragon）後，一發不可收拾。一整天，他不吃不喝，一連讀了五六部（《盤龍》共21部），相當於中文一百多萬字。
後來，更新緩慢的《盤龍》已無法滿足他的胃口，他又找到了三個翻譯網站，同時追更15部中國網絡小說，看得如痴如醉……
美國小夥卡扎德
卡扎德說：
「過去我回家後只想著吸毒，現在我回家後滿腦子想的都是中國小說，它們像毒品一樣讓人上癮，但至少不會傷害身體。」
2015年，卡扎德還在翻譯連載中國網絡文學的「武俠世界」（wuxiaworld.com）裡留言講述了自己的故事：
大家晚上好，我想分享一個比較沉重的故事，不過最後的結局是好的，因為這個網站的小說我收穫了快樂：
I'll try to be brief, in 2014 I had a breakup with a woman I was with for 2 years. After that I had a bit of a...problem, I got into drugs, I got addicted to Coke.
長話短說，我2014年和處了2年的女友分手，然後我就出了點問題，我開始吸毒了，染上了古柯鹼的癮。
In February of this year I had did my last line and all of a sudden my heart started beating uncontrollably and I felt a deep pressure appear on the left side of my body all the way down. I thought I was having a heart attack. From that day on I felt that pressure every day, sometimes the pressure would build up and as it did I would actually have a hard time thinking clearly and get lightheaded.
2015年2月我吸完最後一道白粉，突然心臟開始不受控制地狂跳，左半邊身體感受到一種強大的壓迫。我以為我心臟病發作了。從那天起，我每天都能感到這種壓力，有時候壓力陡增，使我無法清醒思考、頭昏眼花。
And one day I was introduced to Coiling Dragon, immediately I fell in love. Once I got caught up with that I moved on to MGA, ATG and ISSTH etc... Basically Wuxiaworld took up all my time and I was able to forget about wanting any drugs...
然後有一天，有人介紹我看《盤龍》，我立刻愛上這部小說。我追完那部又接著去看了《修羅武神》、《逆天邪神》、《我欲封天》……基本上「武俠世界」佔據了我所有的時間，我甚至忘記了對毒品的欲望……
About a month ago I noticed the pressure started to dissipate, and as it did my vision and thoughts have also started to clear up and also sometimes I can hear a sound in my head like water being slowly drained through a straw...
大約一個月前，我發現那種壓力開始消退了，視力和頭腦也變得清晰了，有時，我還能聽見腦袋裡有一種水被吸管吸走的聲音……
What would have happened if I never found wuxiaworld and been able to stave off my addiction? I really want to say I feel your novels have probably saved my life so thank you... really.
如果我從未發現「武俠世界」、戒除毒癮，後果又將會怎樣？我真的想說，你們的小說救了我一命。所以真心感謝。
中國網友看到這條新聞反響熱烈，遙想當年，自己也是這樣沉溺網文的……

還有網友為「文學戒毒」的成果感到振奮：
但也有網友表示，他這是染上了新的毒品……
其實像卡扎德這樣狂熱的外國玄幻小說粉還真不少……
比如這位為了讀網絡文學而自學了中文：
我學中文六個月了，只為了看網絡小說，所以只學了漢字和語法。現在雖然我能藉助彈窗詞典看懂70%的內容，但是一點樂趣也沒有。所以現在我決定從頭學中文，讀和說都學起來，這絕對更有用。
這位是肯塔基州中部一位「尋常男子」，他很感謝志願翻譯，但是對《盤龍》結尾充滿怨恨，吐槽不止。
還有這位無法適應小說完結的。
該死……我現在難過極了。我是說，《盤龍》只剩一章就完結了！我已經習慣每天追文了！這是我看的第一本中國小說！它對我來說意義非凡……我真的很喜歡這部小說，真的無法接受再一章就完結了，以後都沒有《盤龍》了嗚嗚嗚嗚……這本書真的是一場神奇的旅途，《盤龍》將一直在我心裡佔據特別的位置。只剩一章了，我太傷心了。感謝翻譯君。
你一定好奇外國網友看這些網文的網站是什麼樣的，我們來介紹一下……
連載中國網絡文學的「武俠世界」（wuxiaworld.com），由美國資深譯者RWX成立於2014年底，到去年8月，其全球總訪問量已經超過了10億次，其中40%來自北美，20%來自歐洲。
該網站一共刊載了23部中國網絡小說（web novels），7部已翻譯完結，包括原文340萬字的「我吃西紅柿」（作家朱洪志）的《盤龍》（Coiling Dragon）。
此外，還有包括spcnet在內的好幾家聚集了外國志願翻譯的網站。
網友整理spcnet網站每本小說的閱讀量
翻譯得怎麼樣呢？我們來看一段《盤龍》節選：
Book 1, Chapter 1 – Early Morning at a Township
第一章 小鎮的早晨
The town of Wushan. An ordinary little town located within the Kingdom of Fenlai, west of the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, the largest mountain range within the Yulan continent.
烏山鎮，玉蘭大陸第一山脈『魔獸山脈』西方的芬萊王國中的一個普通小鎮。
As the morning sun rose, in the town of Wushan, there remained a slight hint of the cold, pure pre-dawn air. However, virtually all of the citizens of this small town had already come out to begin working. Even the six or seven year old children had already gotten out of bed and were preparing to begin their traditional morning exercises.
朝陽初升，烏山鎮這個小鎮上依舊有著清晨的一絲清冷之氣，只是小鎮中的居民幾乎都已經出來開始工作了，即使是六七歲的稚童，也差不多也都起床開始了傳統性的晨練。
On an empty area in the eastern region of Wushan town, the warmth of the rays of the morning sun passed through the surrounding trees, leaving behind scattered spots of light on the empty ground.
烏山鎮東邊的空地上，早晨溫熱的陽光透過空地旁邊的大樹，在空地上留下了斑駁的光點。
A large group of children could be seen there, approximately one or two hundred in number. These children were separated into three groups, each group divided into several lines. All the children stood there silently, their faces solemn. The northernmost group of children were approximately six years old. The group in the middle, approximately nine to twelve years old. The ones in the south, the thirteen to sixteen year olds.
只見一大群孩子，目視過去估摸著差不多有一兩百個。這群孩子分成了三個團隊，每個團隊都是排成幾排，孩子們一個個都靜靜地站在空地上，面色嚴肅。這群孩子最北邊一個團隊的孩子大概六歲到八歲。而中間的一個團隊，差不多是九歲到十二歲，最南邊的則是一群十三歲到十六歲的少年。
In front of this large group of children, there were three sturdily-built middle-aged men. All three of them wore short-sleeved shirts and roughly cut trousers.
在這一大群孩子前方，便是三名壯碩的中年人，三個中年人都是穿著短背心以及粗布長褲。
「If you want to be a powerful warrior, then you must work hard from youth.」 The leader of the middle-aged men, head raised high, hands clasped behind his back, said to them coldly. He swept his cold, fierce gaze across the northernmost group of children. All of those six and seven year olds tightened their lips. Gazing at this man with their big, round eyes, none of them dared to make a sound.
「想要成為一名偉大的戰士，就必須從小刻苦鍛鍊。」為首的中年人背負著雙手，昂著頭顱冷然說道，那冷厲的目光更是朝最北邊一個團隊掃了過去，那群六七歲的孩子們一個個抿著嘴，烏溜溜的眼睛更是盯著這位中年人，絲毫不敢出聲。
The leader’s name was Hillman (Xi』er’man). He was the captain of the guard for the Baruch (Ba』lu』ke) clan, the noble clan which owned Wushan town.
為首的中年人名叫希爾曼，是烏山鎮的擁有者『巴魯克家族』的護衛隊隊長。
「All of you are commoners. Unlike those noble families, you won’t have access to any secret manuals teaching you how to cultivate battle qi [dou qi]. If you want to become someone of worth, if you wish to be respected, then all of you must use the most ancient, most simple, and most basic ways of improving yourselves – through exercising your bodies, and building up your strength! Am I clear?!」
「你們都是普通人，不可能像那些大貴族一樣有厲害的鬥氣密典修煉，想要出人頭地，想要將來不被人瞧不起，你們就必須按照最古老、最簡單、最基礎的方法鍛鍊，鍛鍊身體、打熬力氣，明白沒有！」
Hillman swept the group of children with his gaze.
希爾曼目光掃向這一群孩子。
「Understood.」 The voices of the children replied brightly in unison.
「明白。」一群少年響亮地吼道。
「Good.」 Satisfied, Hillman coldly nodded. The eyes of the six year old children displayed their confusion, while the eyes of the teenagers became very determined. They understood the meaning behind Hillman’s words.
「很好。」希爾曼滿意地冷漠點了點頭，那些六七歲的孩子們眼中大多有著懵懵懂懂，而那些十幾歲的少年們眼神都堅毅的很，因為他們明白希爾曼所說的含義。
Virtually every male in the Yulan continent would exercise very hard from a very young age. If anyone slacked off, in the future, they would be looked down upon by others! Money and power – these were the things that determined a man’s status! A man without power would be looked down upon even by women.
整個玉蘭大陸幾乎每一個男子都要從小努力鍛鍊，如果誰不刻苦訓練，那他將來就會被人瞧不起！代表男人地位的，就是實力與金錢！一個沒有實力的男人，就是女人也會瞧不起的。

早在2011年，南派三叔的《盜墓筆記》就出了英文版Cavern of the Blood Zombies。
現在國外的志願翻譯網站幾乎也形成了自己的運作模式——打賞模式，建立起了翻譯團隊，據說搶走了不少原本是日韓輕小說（light novels）的粉絲。
幾個主要網站正在連載譯文的更新：
不乏貓膩、天蠶土豆等大神的作品。
你可能會好奇，外國讀者為什麼能理解仙俠、武俠這些中國獨特的文化元素……
閱文集團（China Reading Group）的CEO吳文輝在接受《中國日報》時說：
「關鍵在於你的文化產品比較好，好到他們願意跨越文化來了解你，這不是誰迎合誰的過程，而是你有文化魅力徵服別人心靈的問題。」
他認為中國網絡文學的優勢在於：豐富的想像，以及不斷成長壯大的故事主線。

吳文輝介紹，目前最受海外用戶喜愛的中國網絡小說主要為玄幻、武俠、仙俠等類型。
「這類的網文靈感脫胎於在中國流傳演變了上千年的神話傳說、歷史典籍等等，作品中構築了一個深植於中國傳統文化的龐大世界觀，與西方世界的文化背景截然不同，給海外讀者帶來了前所未有的閱讀體驗。同時還充滿了曲折離奇的情節、酣暢淋漓的主人公奮鬥經歷。」
另摘一份統計：
▷ 在十大外國人最愛讀的網文中，「重生」「穿越」「種馬」「煉丹」「開金手指」等情節出現率極高；
▷ 在十大熱書中50%出現了血統、族系（Bloodlines、Clan Politics）內容，50%的主角要修真（Cultivation），50%的主人公在煉體（Body Tempering），50%的主角會穿越異界（Transported to Another World），60%的主角有儲物空間（Interspatial Storage）；
▷ 80%的故事裡出現過怪物、獸類（Monsters、Beast）；
▷ 60%的故事有多個界域（Multiple Realms）；
▷ 而90%說的是男主角由弱變強的故事（Weak to Strong）。
《盤龍》的作者「我吃西紅柿」的反應則是：
「的確想過作品傳播到海外，不過沒想到是讀者自發翻譯在論壇上傳播，我挺喜歡這樣的事的。」
他覺得故事、感情都是共通的，都會有愛情、親情。
唯一擔心的是翻譯問題，畢竟網絡小說是很長，能否有人願意翻譯那麼長的小說，並且還翻譯準確？
那麼是誰在翻譯呢？
前面提過的RWX其實就是「任我行」，1986年生於四川成都，3歲隨父母到了美國，就讀於UC伯克利，畢業後考入了「本科生很難進的」美國國務院下的外交部門。
這位武俠愛好者翻譯了金庸古龍，又一面工作一面完整翻譯了「我吃西紅柿」340萬字的長文《盤龍》，花了他1年半來所有的業餘時間，被他稱作「a hell of a ride」。
RWX於15年辭掉了外交官的工作，專注於中國網絡文學向英語世界的翻譯和推廣，他說現在網站日均PV為400萬，吸引了24個譯者在做志願翻譯，其中還有金髮碧眼學中醫的小夥伴。
任大俠說他的翻譯速度在一周10-20章，中間也一度翻譯不下去了，全靠有熱心粉絲的志願打賞：
A cycle had begun, and others scrambled to donate as well. This was far more work than I had bargained for…but I did what I promised, and this resulted in a virtuous (albeit exhausting) cycles of more updates=>more viewers=>more donations=>more updates.
然後一個停不下來的日更循環就開始了，網友們則搶著打賞。我沒想到工作量會如此巨大，但是我完成了我的承諾。這又促成另一個良性（雖然也很疲勞）的循環：更多更新=>更多讀者=>更多打賞=>更多更新。
The 90 hour workweek for a year has taken its toll; it’s been rewarding in many ways, both financial and personal, but at the same time, it’s been a killer. I』ve had no social life for a year, I』ve gained ~30 lbs from all that sitting in front of a computer, my right hand cramps at the pinky (from continuous stretching to the 『shift』 button) , I haven’t gone out for a date in ages…the list goes on and on.
每周工作90小時，持續一年，它確實讓我收穫良多，無論是經濟上還是個人成長上，但也辛苦之極。我幾乎沒有社交生活，長期坐在電腦前長胖了30磅，右手小指時而抽筋，因為總要按shift鍵，沒機會出去約會……這些列都列不完。
除了翻譯，還有不少外國大神用中國網絡小說模式來原創英文小說的。
看看Gravity網站上的原創作品列表：
其中那本《藍鳳凰》（Blue Phoenix），作者是Tina Lynge，據說是居住在丹麥、25歲左右的美少女。
《藍鳳凰》在亞馬遜已經出了電子書，講一個叫Hui Yue（主角名字都是拼音）的英雄在「一個弱肉強食的世界如何靠自己的力量生存下去」的故事。該書在外國人的「豆瓣」Goodreads上有266人評價，褒貶不一。
Tina Lynge還有一部小說叫Escaping Fate。
作家說：
My writing is inspired by popular genres of Chinese web novels. These stories usually takes place in a world unlike our own. A world filled with demonic beasts and cultivation of both body and soul. This is a world where a person's level of strength is what determines their future accomplishments.
我的創作靈感來源於流行的中國網絡小說。這些故事通常發生在一個完全不同的世界，充滿了妖怪，身體和精神的雙重修煉。這是一個由個人的力量決定他們未來成就的世界。
Blue Phoenix is a story that I have been spending a very long time on planning. It is a story that has caused me to use countless of hours to research the Chinese culture and Taoism. Even now there is so much to know, that I still spend hour after hour on researching the fundamentals while writing a chapter.
我的《藍鳳凰》構思了很久，我花了很多時間研究中國文化和道家思想，雖然已經掌握了不少知識，但每寫一個章節我還是要花很多時間研究背景。
