The social media conflagration surrounding United Continental’s forcible removal of a passenger from an overbooked flight has now transcended both borders and language, with the story rocketing to the top trending spot on China’s Weibo social network .
社交媒體圍繞聯合大陸(United Continental)強制一名乘客離開超額預訂航班一事燃起的怒火，現在已跨越了國境和語言。此事已躥升至中國社交網絡新浪微博(Weibo)的熱門話題榜中。
The tag 「United Airlines forcibly removes passenger from aircraft」 was the top trending item on Weibo on Tuesday. As noon approached the topic had garnered 46m readers and 34,000 comments on the popular Twitter-like platform.
周二，#美聯航強制乘客下機#話題一度登上新浪微博熱門話題榜榜首。快到中午時，該話題在這一類似Twitter的流行平臺上吸引了4600萬閱讀量和3.4萬條評論。
The incident, in which a man is dragged screaming and bleeding from an overbooked flight, had already ignited a social media firestorm on the anglophone Internet. But it found fresh kindling in China after a comment from another passenger was translated into Chinese.
Speaking to The Washington Post, fellow passenger Tyler Bridges said of the man removed from the aircraft:
在事件中，一名尖叫並流著血的男子被強行拖下超額預訂的航班。此事已在英語網際網路平臺上引發一場社交媒體風暴。但是，當另一名乘客的評論被翻譯成中文後，此事在中國找到了新火種。
「He said, more or less, 『I’m being selected because I’m Chinese.』」
同機乘客泰勒•布裡奇斯(Tyler Bridges)在對《華盛頓郵報》(Washington Post)談到這名被拖下客機的男子時表示：「他說：『我被選中下飛機或多或少是因為我是華人。』」
That quote, along with images of the passenger’s bloodied face, was being spread far and wide online in Mandarin on Tuesday morning in Asia.

Among the most popular comments were those of Joe Wong, a prominent Chinese-born comedian who voiced approval for the passenger’s complaint.

「Many Chinese people feel they』ve been subject to discrimination, but [fear of losing] face prevents them from speaking out,」 Mr Wong wrote, 「which leads to mainstream media in the West and the public not taking discrimination against Asians seriously.」

United, which uses the slogan 「Fly the friendly skies」, has often billed itself as the the top US carrier to China, and offers direct flights from the US to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Xi』an.
