上個星期三晚上，我們星爍學院的初級英語會話課上，同學們有學到「couch potato」 這個詞，一個圓滾滾的馬鈴薯「坐在」沙發上？
A 「couch potato」 is someone who spends an excessive amount of time seated watching television or playing video games. 「couch potato」
指花大量時間坐著看電視或玩電玩。
這就是英語的習語，我們再看看其它的和蔬菜有關的習語吧！
看新聞的時候，我們經常會看到 x國向 xx國伸出橄欖枝，希望能就某個問題和解. 為什麼是橄欖枝呢？
1. To 「pass an olive branch」 is to make peaceful or reconciliatory overtures.
拋橄欖枝，指傾向和平或和解的提議。
2. To 「dangle a carrot」 before someone is to encourage them with an incentive.
在某人面前吊一個胡蘿蔔是指刺激，鼓勵某人，吊某人胃口。
3. 「Salad days」 refers to the youthful period of one’s life.
青蔥歲月。
4. A 「carrot top」 is a red-haired person.
紅頭髮的人。
5. The carrot in 「carrot and stick」 is an incentive or reward.
(The stick is the punishment.)
在大棒與胡蘿蔔（軟硬兼施）中，carrot指獎勵刺激，stick是懲罰措施。
6. Something that is 「small potatoes」 is insignificant.
不重要的事。
7. Someone 「as cool as a cucumber」 is very self-possessed under pressure.
