英語閱讀(越讀)：一些和食物相關的俚語(1) A tough nut
下面這些小短語正好是用來練習英語「越讀」，用英語「越多」，即用英語學英語記英語的，而不是僅僅停留滿足於「我懂它的中文意思了」。
因為我們基本可以肯定，這些小短語就算再實用再地道，我們在平時的生活工作中也基本用不上，所以「只懂得」，「只記住」它們的中文意思沒有多大意義。我們唯一可以「用」的，就是藉助對它們的學習正好可以把我們已知的學過的英語「用起來」，「用」英語記住它們(記英語)。
不要連這點自己用英語的機會都不給自己。
一、怎麼知道自己「讀懂」了。
1.Tough nut to crack 棘手的問題；難以理喻和對付的人；
2.(A) baker’s dozen 十三；
二、英語「越讀」，用(已知的學過的)英語「越多
查英英字典或synonym字典，「找到」已知的學過的英語，再用英語學英語，「說」英語
1) Tough nut to crack 棘手的問題

這裡面有你已知的學過的英語嗎？有就完全沒必要再翻譯成中文「才能懂」了，直接記住這些已知的學過的英語就是了。這才是學英語需要下功夫的地方，不是煞費苦心記住它的中文。
2.So,if we have a difficult task to complete,we can say We have a tough nut to crack.
For example.Getting an A in this class will be a tough nut to crack.

a challenging or unreasonable person to understand or to deal with.

只記住中文「不算厲害」，記住它的英語才是「有效」。
2) (A) baker’s dozen 十三

2.So,if we get a baker's dozen(of something),we get thirteen (of it).
For example.Will you give baker's dozen? You mean Will you give thirteen?
