關於「富二代」，維基百科專門有一個詞條：
Fuerdai (rich second) is a Chinese term for the children of the nouveau riche in China.
富二代是一個中文術語，指中國暴發戶的孩子。
這句話中，「富二代」被翻譯成了rich second，它完整的表達應該是：rich second generation。這種說法比較書面正式，並含有貶義，也相對比較直譯，對歪果仁來說聽起來有點像外來語。
例：
The "rich second generation" has triggered a heated debate in the media.
「富二代」在媒體間引發了熱議。
你可以說：他/她是一個來自富有家庭的孩子。
即：someone is from a wealthy family
I realised that you were from a wealthy family but definitely not a wilful girl.
我意識到你雖是富二代，但並不是一個任性的女孩。
還有一個簡單的翻譯： rich kid(s)
它有一個稍微負面的含義，指的是那些僅僅因為父母富有而富有的人（通常用於指那些年紀非常小的人）。
英語中也有一個非常經典的俗語：born with a silver spoon（in one's mouth）
說的是一個人出生時嘴裡含著銀勺子，意思就是說這個人出生於富貴人家。
大家有沒有奇怪，為何是銀勺子不是金勺子呢？
其實這個諺語中，silver spoon使用了一種英語中常用的修辭手法「押頭韻」。
silver spoon兩個單詞的開頭字母都是's'，就勝過gold spoon。
She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and has never done a day's hard work in her life.
她是個富二代，一生中從未做過一天的苦活。
當然，「富二代」還可以這樣表達：born in purple
具有權威性的《韋伯斯特大詞典》對purple一詞做了這樣的注釋∶
of a colour reserved for the use of a royal or imperial ruler
漢語的意思：為皇家專用的顏色。
根據這一解釋，我們便可以知道born in the purple表示的是：born of a kingly or princely family，意為「出身於帝王家族，出身高貴」。
From a very early age the princess was aware that she was born in the purple.
公主在年紀很小時就已經知道自己出身顯貴。
