《Fox and his friends：小狐和他的朋友》是咱們汪培珽繪本共讀計劃第三階段第64本書。

繪本故事講述的是：

Part 1:FOX IN TROUBLE講述的是媽媽讓小狐幫忙照顧路易斯，小狐不得不帶著路易斯去找自己的小夥伴玩耍，但是小夥伴們都沒有時間，小狐來到公園長椅坐了下來，走的時候喊了路易斯卻沒人答應，這可把小狐嚇壞了，到底發生了什麼呢？

Part 2:FOX ALL WET講的是媽媽要去遊泳，讓小狐幫忙照顧路易斯，小狐在遊泳館碰見了自己的好朋友們，他們又是怎樣渡過一個愉快的時光呢？

Part 3:FOX ON DUTY講的是進行交通巡邏的小狐，每天都會幫助人們過馬路，一天他的朋友路過，邀請他一起去沙灘遊泳，小狐答應了，雖然他連泳衣都沒帶，沙灘上他們玩得很愉快，躺在沙灘上睡著的小狐夢到了很多老狗在過馬路，沒有他的幫助異常艱辛、危險，他立馬跑回去，幫助了一隻老狗過馬路，老狗最後叮囑道：「下次，你應該穿一些衣服。」，哈哈哈，原來是小狐跑得太快而忘記穿衣服啦~

FOX IN TROUBLE

小狐遇到麻煩了

"Fox, dear," said Fox's mom.

"Just where do you think you are going?"

"Out to have fun with the gang," said Fox.

"It's saturday."

"But today you must take care of 

little Louise," said Mom

"You're joking," said Fox.

"I am not joking!" said Mom.

And she gave Fox a look.

"Come on, Louise," said Fox.

 「小狐，親愛的，」小狐的媽媽說，

「你想去哪裡？」

「出去和那幫人玩玩，」小狐說，

」今天是星期六。」

「但是今天你必須照顧小露易絲，」媽媽說，

「你在開玩笑，」小狐說，

「我是認真的！」媽媽說，

瞪了小狐一眼。

「來吧，露易絲，」小狐說。

Fox went to see his friend Dexter.

But Dexter's mom came to the door.

"Sorry, Fox," she said.

"Dexter has to help at home all day."

 小狐去見他的朋友德克斯特。

但是德克斯特的媽媽來到門口。

「對不起，小狐，」她說，

「德克斯特這一整天都要在家幫忙。」

"That's no fun," said Fox.

"Come on, Louise."

Dexter watched from the window.

"Sorry, Fox," he said.

「真沒勁兒，」 小狐說，

「走吧，露易絲。」

德克斯特透過窗戶向外說道。

「對不起啦，小狐，」他說。

Next Fox went to Betty's house.

"Betty has chicken pox," said her mom.

"Can she still play?" asked Fox.

"Of course not," said Betty's mom.

 接著小狐去了貝蒂家。

「貝蒂得了水痘，」貝蒂媽媽說，

「那她還能出來玩嗎？」 小狐問。

「當然不能，」貝蒂的媽媽說。

"Poor Betty." said Fox.

"Come on, Louise."

"Okay," said Louise.

"Sorry, Fox," said Betty.

"You can't help it," said Fox.

「可憐的貝蒂。」小狐說。

「走吧，露易絲。」

「好的」，露易絲說道。

「對不起，小狐，」貝蒂說。

「你也沒辦法，」小狐說。

Fox went to the park and sat down on a bench.

"This is awful!" he said.

"Today is Saturday. 

But there is no one to have fun with. 

No one at all."

小狐來到公園坐在公園的長凳上。

「太糟糕了！」 他說。

「今天是星期六，

可是一個玩伴都沒有。

一個也沒有。「

Fox thought long and hard.

"Nothing to do here," he said.

"Come on, Louise."

But Louise did not answer.

"She must be hiding." said Fox.

小狐努力的想了很久很久。

　「這裡什麼都玩不了，」 他說，

「走吧，露易絲。」

但是露易絲沒有回答。

「她一定是藏起來了。」小狐說。

And he looked around.

But Louise was not there.

"This is serious," said Fox.

Then he looked all over the park.

Louise was gone.

他環顧四周，到處都沒有露易絲的身影。

　「這可壞了，」 小狐說。

他把公園翻了個遍也沒有找到露易絲。

"Oh, dear," said Fox.

"This is very serious." 

Fox left the park.

"Mom will be really mad. 

I have lost Louise!"

"Yoo-hoo," said a voice.

Fox looked up.

「哦，天啊，」 小狐說，「這下事態嚴重了。」

小狐走出公園。

「媽媽會很生氣的，我把露易絲弄丟了！」

「喲嚯，」一個聲音傳來，

小狐抬頭一看。

It was Louise.

"Come down this minute," said Fox.

"Come and get me," said Louise.

"Come down right now!" said Fox.

"No!" said Louise.

"All right," said Fox.

"I'm coming up!"

 是路易絲。

「趕緊下來，」小狐說。

「上來抓我呀，」路易絲喊道。

「你立馬給我下來！！」小狐說。

「我不！」 露易絲拒絕。

「好吧，」小狐說，「我爬上來啦！」

Fox took a deep breath and 

climbed the telephone pole.

"I don't like high places," he said.

小狐深深地吸了一口氣，爬上了電線桿。

「我恐高啊，」 小狐說。

Fox and Louise came down 

the telephone pole together.

"You are trouble," said Fox.

小狐和露易絲一起爬下電線桿。

「你真會惹麻煩，」 小狐說。

On the way home

Fox had a terrible thought.

"What if Louise tells？" he said to himself.

"I will really get it!"

回家的路上一個可怕的念頭出現在小狐腦中。

「如果露易絲告訴媽媽怎麼辦？」他自言自語，

「我會被罰的！」

Fox bought Louise the biggest ice cream 

come he could buy.

"You must not tell," he said.

"Maybe I will and maybe I won't," said Louise.

小狐儘可能的給露易絲買了一個最大的甜筒。

「你不能告訴媽媽，」他說。

「也許我會，也許我不會，」路易絲說。

"What have you two been up to?" asked Mom.

Fox held his breath.

"We went to the park," said Louise.

"And?" said Mom.

"And Fox bought me an 

ice cream cone," said Louise.

"And?" said Mom.

"And then we came home," said Louise.

"How sweet, Fox," said Mom.

「你們倆去哪兒啦？」 媽媽問。

小狐屏住了呼吸。

「我們去了公園，」路易絲說，

「然後呢？」媽媽問。

「小狐給我買了一個冰淇淋筒，」路易絲說，

「然後呢？」媽媽說。

「然後我們就回家了，」露易絲說。

「小狐你真貼心，」媽媽說。

"You're okay, Louise." said Fox.

 「你也很貼心，露易絲。」小狐說道。

FOX ALL WET

小狐成了落湯雞

When Fox got home from school.

Mom had a surprise for him.

"This afternoon you must 

take care of Louise," she said.

"You're joking," said Fox.

"I'm going swimming with my friends."

"Then you will take Louise," said Mom.

"No'" said Fox.

 小狐放學回家後，

媽媽給他準備了一個驚喜。

「今天下午你必須照顧露易絲，」她說。

「你在開玩笑，」小狐說。

「我要和我的朋友們一起去遊泳。」

「那就把露易絲帶上，」媽媽說。

「不。」小狐說道。

Mom gave Fox a serious look.

"You will take Louise," she said.

"Get your suit, Louise," said Fox.

"Okay," said Louise.

媽媽嚴肅地看著他說。

「你要照看露易絲。」

　「去穿泳衣，露易絲。」 小狐說。

「好的，」露易絲說。

At the pool Fox met his friends Dexter, 

Carmen, and Junior.

"Hi!" said Fox.

"Who's the kid?" asked Carmen.

"Don't mind her," said Fox.

小狐在遊泳池見到了他的朋友

德克斯特，卡門和朱尼爾。

「嗨！」小狐說。

「這孩子是誰？」卡門問。

「不用管她，」小狐說。

"Last one in the pool is a 

monkey's uncle!" said Dexter.

And everyone ran for the pool.

「最後一個進到遊泳池的就是猴子他叔！」 

德克斯特大喊道。

每個人都跑向遊泳池。

Soon everyone was having a lot of fun.

"This is wild!" said Fox.

And everyone agreed.

不一會大家就興高採烈地玩起來。

　「太盡興了！」 小狐說。

所有人都表示贊同。

"Who will jump from the high board?" 

said Dexter.

"Not I," said Carmen.

"Not I," said Junior.

 「誰敢從高臺上跳下去？」德克斯特說。

「我不敢，」卡門說。

「我不敢，」朱尼爾說。

"I don't like high places," said Fox.

"Where's that kid?" asked Carmen.

"Uh-oh," said Fox.

「我討厭高高的地方，」 小狐說。

「那小孩子在哪裡？」卡門問。

「呃…哦，」小狐哀嘆。

"How did she get up there?" asked Dexter.

"We weren't watching," said Carmen.

"Come down right now!" said Fox.

"Come and get me," said Louise.

"You'll be sorry when I do!" said Fox.

 「她是怎麼上去的？」德克斯特問。

「我們不注意的時候，」 卡門說。

「趕緊給我下來！」 小狐說。

「過來抓我啊，」露易絲說。

「等我抓到你你就完了！」 小狐說。

Fox climbed up the ladder.

"I don't like this at all," he said.

He felt his kness begin to shake.

"Don't look down," said Dexter.

 小狐爬上梯子。

「我一點也不喜歡這樣，」他說。

他覺得自己的膝蓋開始顫抖。

「別往下看，」德克斯特說。

But when Fox got to the top,

Louise was not there.

"Uh-oh," said Fox.

He felt all funny inside.

"Go on and jump!" said Dexter.

"The kid did it," said Carmen.

但是當小狐爬到頂時，

露易絲已經不見了。

「呃…哦，」小狐說。

他心裡覺得很好笑。

「繼續啊，跳下去！」德克斯特說。

那孩子跳下來了，」卡門說。

"Jump!" said Junior and Louise.

"Everyone is watching!" said Fox.

"We're waiting!" said Dexter.

"It's now or never," said Fox.

He closed his eyes. And he jumped.

 「跳啊！」朱尼爾和露易絲說。

「大家都看著呢，」 小狐說。

「我們在等著呢！」德克斯特說。

　「就現在以後想都別想，」 小狐說著。

他閉上了眼睛，跳了下去。

Fox hit with a big splash.

"Hooray for Fox!" everyone cried.

"What a fine jump!"

小狐落入水中濺起了大片水花。

　「為小狐歡呼！」大夥嚷道，「跳得多棒啊！」

"Louise," said Fox. 

"I Want to speak with you alone."

"Uh-oh," said Louise.

 「露易絲，」小狐說。「我想和你單獨談談。

「呃…哦。」露易絲說。

FOX ON DUTY

值勤小狐

Fox liked being on traffic patrol.
His job was helping folks across the street.
He did it very well.

小狐喜歡當交通巡邏員。

他的工作是幫助人們過馬路。

他做得很好。

Every day Fox helped an old dog to cross.

「Thank you, Fox,」 said the old dog.
"I couldn't do it without you."

小狐每天都幫一隻老狗過馬路，

「謝謝你，小狐，」老狗說。

「沒有你我就沒法過馬路了。」

One day Fox's friends Dexter and Carmen 

stopped by his  corner.
"What a dumb way to spend 

your time, " said Dexter.

有一天，小狐的朋友德克斯特和卡門

經過他值勤的街角。

「你過得也太無聊了點吧，」 德克斯特說。

"We are going swimming 

at the beach," said  Carmen.
"That sounds like fun," said Fox.
"Come with us," said Dexter.

「我們正準備去海邊遊泳，」 卡門說。

「聽上去很好玩哎，」 小狐說。

「跟我們一起去吧，」德克斯特說。

「But I don't have a suit,」 said I  Fox.
「That's okay,」 said his friends.
「We won't look.」
So Fox put down his sign
and went with his friends.
At the beach Fox and his friends
had just as much fun as always.

They  rode the waves,
and they built castles in the sand.

 「但是我沒穿泳衣，」小狐說。

「沒關係，我們不看你，」他的朋友們說。

所以小狐放下指示牌，和朋友們一起去了。

在海灘上，小狐和他的朋友們

玩得和往常一樣開心。

他們乘著海浪，在沙灘上建造了城堡。

 Dexter and Carmen went for hot dogs.

And Fox lay down in the sand.
Very  soon he was dreaming away.

德克斯特和卡門去買熱狗，

小狐躺在沙子裡。

不久，他就開始做夢了。

In his dream Fox saw a corner, 

his corner.
And the sidewalk was full of old dogs.
Some of them could  not see very well.

 在他的夢中，小狐看到了一個街角，

他管理的街角。

人行道上滿是老狗，

他們中的有些人視力不是很好。

「I can't understand it,」 said one old dog.

「Fox is always on duty here.」

「The traffic is so heavy today,」 said  another.

 「我不明白，」一隻老狗說，

「小狐一隻在這裡執勤呀。」

「今天交通很擁擠，」另一隻說道。

「We will just have to cross  the street 

alone,」 said the first old dog.
"There is nothing else to do."

So all the old dogs stepped off the sidewalk.

「我們只好自己過馬路了，」 先前那隻老狗說。

除此之外沒有別的辦法了。

於是所有的狗走下人行道。

「No!」 cried Fox. 「Not that!」

And he woke right up.

He did not wait for Dexter and Carmen.
He left the beach in a flash.

「不！」 小狐喊道，「不要那樣！」 他驚醒過來。

他醒過來了。

他沒有等德克斯特和卡門，

他閃電般地離開了海灘。

There was only one old dog on the sidewalk.
And he was cross.
 'Where were you?" he said.
"It won't happen again," said  Fox.

 人行道上只有一隻老狗打算過馬路。

他很生氣。

「你去哪兒了？」他問，

「下不為例，」 小狐說。

 And he helped the old dog
across the street.
「Thanks,」 said the dog.

「Any time,」  said Fox.

他幫那隻老狗過馬路。

「謝謝，」狗說，

「隨時效勞，」 小狐說。

"And, Fox," said the old dog.

"Yes?" said Fox.
「Next time, 」 said  the dog,
「you should  wear some clothes.」

 「還有，小狐，」老狗說。

「什麼？」小狐問。

「下次，你應該穿好衣服。」狗說，

 "Uh-oh," said Fox.

　「噢-哦，」小狐說。
