端午來臨，UTH國際在此恭祝大家粽子節安康！那麼粽子一詞，用英語怎麼說呢？
首先，用UTH旗下的翻譯工具「芝麻秘語」搜索一下，得到的翻譯結果是"Zongzi"。因為粽子是中國特有的食物，且在英文中很難找到很貼切的參照物，所以很多中文詞彙都直接以拼音的形式翻譯成英文。
如：餃子就可直譯為Jiao zi，不一定要說是dumpling，老外都明白，而且聽起來也很親切。這就像英文中的tank，最初作為外來詞語翻譯成中文的時候，就音譯為坦卡一樣的道理，沒有任何的不妥。如果真有沒見過世面的老外不知道Jiao zi為何物，那我們也可以大方地為其解釋：
Zongzi is a traditional Chinese food which is made of glutinous rice (糯米) with meat or Chinese date (棗) in it. It is usually wrapped into a pyramid-shaped(or tetrahedral) dumpling with bamboo or reed leaves.
另外一種比較官方的說法，就是：rice dumpling，包粽子就是：make rice dumplings，這算是一種比較書面的說法。但隨著老外們對中國文化的慢慢熟知，用老外的話說，連Zongzi都不會說都不好意思跟人打招呼，所以這種太過正規化的說法用的人也不是很多了。
其實，粽子還有一種比較冷門的譯法：tsung-tse / tzung tzu，這種拼寫和發音，類似於現在的「清華大學」翻譯為：Tsinghua University，那是已經約定俗成的了，畢竟人家已經是世界知名的百年老校了。對於的粽子而言，恐怕還是更接地氣一些的譯法更容易被接受。
