外國同事對你說「you're the boss」，可不是指你是老闆、」You make the call.」也不是叫你來打電話……中文常講「隨便」、「你決定就好」 ，正確的英文口語說法是什麼？
Danny與外籍同事一起討論一項企劃，最後同事對他說：「Alright. You’re the boss.」
如果把這句話的意思直接翻成中文「你是老闆」，之後還對同事頤指氣使的話，可就糗大了。
You’re the boss其實只是一個口語的回應，意思是「就聽你的，你說了算」，表示對方同意採納你的提議。
A: How about ordering some pizza for dinner tonight? （今晚點披薩當晚餐怎麼樣？）
B: Sure. You’re the boss. （好啊，就聽你的。）
除了You’re the boss之外，還有其他常用的慣用語也有相近的意思：
You make the call.
錯誤：你來打電話。
正確：由你決定。
這裡的call不是指「電話」，而是「決定」的意思，也可以說「It’s your call」。
It’s your call to decide whether we should let him know about this.
由你來決定我們是否要讓他知道這件事。
It’s up to you.
你決定就好。
通常用來表示自己沒什麼意見，希望對方自行做決定。
A: Which color do you think I should wear, red or blue? （你覺得我應該穿哪種顏色的衣服才好？紅色還是藍色？）
B: It’s up to you. I think you look great in either of them. （你決定就好，我覺得你穿哪個都好看。）

錯誤：無論你怎麼說。
正確：隨便，你說了算。
Whatever在語氣上較為消極，言下之意是「我不想跟你爭了，就聽你的吧」，可千萬別亂用。

就照你說的；就聽你的。
通常用來回應別人的請求或拜託，表示對方要你做什麼都可以。
A: Could you turn the music down a little bit? （你可以把音樂關小聲一點嗎？）
B: Oh, sure. Anything you say. （喔，好啊，就聽你的。）
