文中的scene stealing就是指「搶鏡頭、搶戲」，搶戲的演員也就是scene-stealer，通常是一些過分賣弄的配角演員。「搶鏡頭」還可以用steal the show或者upstage來表示。Upstage原意指「移向舞臺後部」，後喻指舞臺上演員「搶戲」，日常生活中則引申為公共場合「搶鏡頭，搶風頭」。
不過，如果跟上司在一起，搶鏡頭可不是明智之舉。來看下面的例句：He avoided newsmen’s microphones and went out of his way not to upstage his superior.（他避開新聞記者們的麥克風，儘量不搶上司的鏡頭。）
