Hello everyone and welcome back to English with Lucy.
大家好,歡迎回到跟Lucy學英語。
Today I've got a grammar lesson for you, well, sort of a grammar and vocabulary lesson.
今天,我要給大家上一節語法課,好吧,也可以說是語法和詞彙課。
It's all about "watch, look and see, "three words that seem to be very, very similar.
課上全部內容都是關於"watch, look和see"這三個看起來幾乎沒啥區別的單詞。
They are similar, they're really similar words, but we use them in different situations and they cause a lot of my darling students a lot of difficulty and a lot of confusion.
這三個單詞確實是十分類似的,然而,我們會在不同的情景下使用它們,這三個單詞給我很多可愛的同學們都帶來了不少困擾。
So, let's get started.
那麼,讓我們開始吧。
I'm first going to break down, word by word and then we're going to compare them to make sure that you've really got it in your head.
首先,我要逐字逐句地分解,然後比較這三個單詞,以確保你們真的記在腦子裡了。
I swear down, if people I don't know don't stop sending me Skype requests, I'm going to go bananas.
我先把話放這兒,如果有陌生人不停地向我發送Skype【一款社交軟體】請求,我會抓狂的。
OK, firstly "to look".
好的,我們首先看"look"這個單詞。
"Look" can be an exclamation.
"look"可能只是一個感嘆詞。
In a sentence, we use it with the preposition, "at," "to look at something".
在一個句子中,我們會用介詞"at"來搭配使用,如"看東西"。
When we "look at something", we direct our eyes to the object, so "I'm looking at you," we've got that movement and then we pay attention to it.
當我們"看某物"時,我們的眼睛會看向某物, 如"我在看著你",即我們要先有"看向"的這個動作,然後我們才能看到它。
So we direct our eyes to something and pay attention to it, so when "look" has an object, we use "at", "look at that dog", for example, as opposed to "look over there", so I can't say, "look the dog", it's, "look at that dog".
我們要先將眼睛看向某物,然後才能盯著它,所以當"看"有一個具體對象時,我們會使用"at",如"看那條狗",這和"看向那兒"就不是一個意思,所以不能說"look the dog",而是"look at that dog"。
"To see" means to notice something using our eyes.
"To see"是指通過眼睛注意到某事。
So this one's more by chance maybe.
所以這個單詞更有"碰巧"的意味。
Remember, this verb is irregular, "see, saw, seen".
請記住,這是一個不規則動詞,即"see,saw,seen"。
I've got a video about common, irregular verbs, that you can watch here, if you want more information, irregular verbs, their conjugations and their pronunciations.
我有一個關於常見的不規則動詞的視頻,如果你想了解更多不規則動詞以及它們的變形和發音,你可以去看看。
So, "to see something" is to notice something using our eyes, so, "I saw your Mum at the coffee shop", I noticed her with my eyes.
話說回來,"to see something"是指用眼睛注意到某個東西,所以,"我在咖啡店看到了你的媽媽",是指我的眼睛覺察到了她。
Now, "watch, to watch", is very similar to "to look", however, the way we use them, slightly different.
好了,"watch,to watch"與"to look "非常相似,然而,我們使用它們的方式略有不同。
"To watch" means we look at something for a longer period of time normally and normally the object is moving or changing, so, "I watch TV", because the TV screen moves.
"To watch"通常意味著我們會較長時間得看某物,而這個東西往往是在移動或變化的,所以我們會說,"I watch TV",因為電視的熒幕會變動。
I wouldn't "look at the TV", the TV, If I "looked at the TV", it would just be a brief glance, a quick look, but "I watch it", I'm fixated on it.
我不會只是"look at the TV",因為如果我做的是這個動作,那只是簡短的一瞥、快速看一眼的意思,但"I watch it「,說明我的視線和注意力已經鎖定了它。
So one of my favorite things to do is to sit in a coffee shop window and do people watching and "I watch the people go by," because they're moving.
所以我最喜歡做的事情之一就是坐在咖啡館的窗戶旁,看著行人來來往往,"I watch people go by",(之所以用"watch",)是因為他們在移動。
I don't just "look at them," because that would just be a brief, shorter glance, and maybe they wouldn't be moving, "I watch" and I see what they're doing.
我不只是"看他們", 因為那只是個短暫的一瞥,也許他們並沒有在移動,"我(觀)看著",更強調我看到他們正在做什麼。
However, talk about films, sports matches or concerts, we can also use "see".
但是,談論電影,體育比賽或音樂會,我們也可以使用"see"。
so, "I saw Beyonce last year," or "I went to see Chelsea play against Arsenal", "I watched the football match", but "I went to see a specific game".
所以,"我去年看了碧昂絲"或"我去看切爾西對陣阿森納的比賽","我看了足球比賽",但(確實)"我是去看了一場特定的比賽。"
However, with the television, we always "watch the television".
然而,說到電視,我們只會用"watch the television"這種說法。
"See" we use more, when we go out with the intention of "watching something".
當我們打算出去"看某個東西"時,我們更多地會使用"see"這個單詞。
Cor, it is complicated, isn't it?
哎,這很複雜,對吧?
Don't worry, we're going to compare them all.
別擔心,我們將把它們全部進行比較。
OK, what's my favorite film?
好的,我最喜歡的電影是什麼?
I think my favorite film is The Shawshank Redemption.
我認為我最喜歡的電影是《肖申克的救贖》。
Comment below, what's your favorite film?
你們可以在下面評論,你們最喜歡的電影是什麼?
I'm always looking for good film recommendations.
我一直在尋找好的電影推薦。
So, if I say, "last night, 'I saw The Shawshank Redemption'", and "last night I watched The Shawshank Redemption", do they mean different things, or do they mean the same thing?
所以,如果我說,"昨晚,『我看了《肖申克的救贖》』,"和"昨晚,『我(觀)看了《肖申克的救贖》』,",他們的含義到底是相同的還是不同的呢?
They mean different things.
答案是不同。
If I say, "I watched it", it means, "I was at home watching it".
如果我說"I watched it",就意味著,"我在家裡觀看過它。"
If I say, " I saw it", it means I went out and I went to the cinema and "I saw it there,"
如果我說"I saw it",那就意味著我出去了,去了電影院,"在那裡看過了。"
"I watched the film outside of my home", I travelled with the intention of "seeing it". OK, another one, "I watched a man digging a hole", "I saw a man digging a hole".
"我在家外(觀)看了這部電影",我的目的是"看它"。 好,看另一個例子,"我看(著)一個男人在挖洞","我看(到)一個男人在挖洞。"
What's the difference here?
這有什麼區別?
It's not about music or film or public performances, so the difference is quite stark, it's quite a strong difference.
這不是關於音樂、電影或公共表演,所以差異非常明顯,有很大的區別。
If "I watched the man digging the hole", it means I sat there and I observed the whole, or a large part of the process.
如果"我看(著)那個人挖洞",那就意味著我坐在那裡,我觀察了整個過程或大部分過程。
If "I saw him digging the hole", it means that I maybe walked down the street and I noticed that there was a man digging a hole.
如果"我看(到)那個人挖洞",這意味著我可能走在街上,我(不經意間)注意到有一個人在挖洞。
Right, that's it for today's lesson. Your homework is to write three sentences using, "look, watch and see" correctly and I want you to try and make them as funny as possible.
是的,這就是今天的課程。你們的作業是正確使用"look, watch和see"這三個單詞寫三句話。
