中文中常說「燒錢」這個表達，也就是花大量的錢，英文裡也有對應的燒錢的表達，也就是我們今天這個非限定性定語從句中的burn through cash，側重指花錢又多又快，很快就花沒了，比如：
The company is continuing to burn through the money it raised from investors earlier this year.
在公眾號6月5日推送的《訂閱成癮》精讀筆記裡，文中也有「花重金」這個概念，強調的是花大量的錢，小編曾經總結過一些外刊中常見的一些說法：
Spending heavily on sth，heavily除了表達沉重地，修飾動詞時，還可以作程度副詞講，十分形象，相當於very；
Cost a fortune: Those necklaces cost a fortune.
Shell out for sth: I'll have to shell out for the vehicle anyway.
Cost an arm and a leg: This luxury bag will cost you an arm and a leg to buy.
Pay good money for: I'm paying good money for this office.
Throw the money down the drain: Renting that house is throwing money down the drain.
Pour money into，將錢投資到某個領域裡，pour本意是灌、倒的意思，用在表示投資的語境下也是十分地形象，將很多錢投資在某個領域。
