can't 的展開形式,是 cannot,還是 can not

can't 是 can 的否定形式，它的展開形式既可以是一個單詞的 cannot，雖然很多拼寫檢查程序認為 can not 是錯誤的，但它的展開形式也可以是兩個單詞的 can not，cannot 和 can not 的用法還是有很大的不同。

一、cannot 是 can't 的常見的展開形式，例如：

你不能逃避明天的責任。

There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

下周不會有危機。我的日程已經排滿了。

A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.

二、can not 也是 can't 的展開形式，但是這樣寫的主要目的是強調 not，且經常用在感嘆句中，例如：

Conflict can not survive without your participation.

沒有你的參與，衝突就無法生存。

I can not tolerate laziness!

我不能容忍懶惰。

三、不得不用 can not 的情形

當 can 與並列連詞 not only … but also 連用時，不能縮寫為 cannot，只能用 can not，例如：

Danielle can not only cook but also bake.

丹妮爾不僅會做飯，還會烤麵包。

My dog can not only roll over but also play dead.

我的狗不僅能翻身，還能裝死。

I like that people who are not experts can not only understand but also become engaged by my work.

我喜歡那些不是專家的人不僅能理解我的工作，而且還能對我的工作投入。

解析：not only … but also 用來連接和強調兩個同等的成分，用來表示令人驚訝或是意料之外的事，而且後者的更為令人驚訝，它可以用來列出形容詞的性質、名詞或動詞，以顯示互補的性質、數量或動作、事件和狀態。
