Architecture as the Embodiment of an Opera—The Design and Operation of National Taichung Theater
This talk will cover Toyo Ito’s philosophy on architecture and his design of National Taichung Theater (NTT), as well as Artistic Director Victoria Wang’s vision for running the theater and how the content and software of the theater correspond to the design and purpose of the piece of architecture. As a new cradle for the performing arts with dedication to contemporary theatre arts and international network, NTT will serve as the only national level performing arts center in central Taiwan, and acts as artists』 base for dreams and ideas to be articulated. With a strong belief in the power of live performances, NTT will create a place to engage, advocate and connect, a space open to the public for arts and new lifestyle experience.
《一座建築就是一齣歌劇~談臺中國家歌劇院的建築與經營》
從伊東豊雄的設計哲學與臺中國家歌劇院建築設備的硬體規劃，談到臺中國家歌劇院的經營願景與對應建築思維的軟體實力。一座與人、與自然共生的劇場建築，如何成為表演藝術的搖籃、藝術家創作的基地、人們生活休憩、吸取新知與體驗感動的地方，一個城市人文生活接受翻新的起點。
Biography
Toyo Ito 伊東豊雄
Graduated from the Department of Architecture, University of Tokyo in 1965. He started his own studio Urban Robot in 1971 which has been renamed to Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects in 1979. He was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement of the 8th International Architecture Exhibition NEXT at the Venice Biennale in 2002 and Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2013.
1965年畢業於東京大學建築系。1971年成立工作室「Urban Robot」(城市機器人之意)，1979年正式改名為「伊東豊雄建築設計事務所」。2002年榮獲第8屆威尼斯建築雙年展「終身成就金獅獎」， 2013年普立茲克建築獎得主。
Victoria Wang 王文儀
Known for her creative producing and bold international programming, Victoria Wang was appointed in May 2014 by Taiwan’s National Performing Arts Center Board of Directors as the first Artistic & Executive Director of National Taichung Theater (NTT), and before that had been working in the theater field for over 20 years.
現任國家表演藝術中心臺中國家歌劇院營運推動小組召集人。美國哥倫比亞大學劇場管理藝術碩士，曾任職於臺灣重要表演藝術組織，包括國家兩廳院、新舞臺、臺北市文化基金會等，以及兼任臺北藝術大學、文化大學等劇場課程教職。
