記住:under the table口語中千萬不要說在桌子下

我們學習英語應該知道，有本義和引申義。口語中很簡單的單詞組合在一起，意思就讓人匪夷所思。比如之前分享的confidence man 本義是自信的男人，引申義卻是騙子，black sheep 本義是黑色的羊，引申義是敗家子，Not again本義是不要重複，引申義卻是不會吧。

今天和戰友分享一個短語under the table本義很容易理解就是在桌子下面，但是在口語中聽到這個詞的時候千萬要注意不是在桌子下面的意思，under the table 引申義是 背地裡，私下的，酒醉的意思。

舉個例子，He sold it under the table. 他偷偷地把它賣了。同義詞是in the dark 和in secret 這兩個短語都表示私下的。

英語學習除了記住本義外，還要對特定的短語的引申義要留意，尤其是我們平時記單詞的時候，特定的短語做筆記。
