我們都知道香蕉的英文是 Banana，那麼，你知道「The big banana」是什麼意思嗎？
「The big banana」的意思可不是「大香蕉」，理解錯小黃人可要生氣啦~~
其實很多水果都有更深層次的含義，千萬不要在不清楚的情況下，胡亂理解呢，不然就很容易鬧笑話啦！今天我們就一起來學習一下吧。
實際上，the big banana 是一個固定的俚語，意思是「大人物、大亨」。所以這個俚語反倒是褒義詞哦~

他想成為有影響力的人，但很難。
而且，它還有兩個小夥伴，分別是 top banana 和 to go bananas.
top banana 中的 top 表示最重要的，極好的，所以 top banana 也表示主要人物、大人物。
而 to go bananas 則表示某人發瘋、精神錯亂、情緒不穩定的意思。
除此之外，它還有個短語，to go bananas for something. 也就是為某事發瘋。
Jack is the top banana in this software company.
傑克是這家軟體公司的老闆。
This student drove the teacher bananas.
這個學生把老師逼瘋了。

fig 是無花果的意思，除此之外，fig 還可以表示無價值的東西，to not give a fig 也就是毫無重視，一點兒也不放在心上。

adj. 櫻桃色的; 鮮紅色的
cherry 是櫻桃的意思，pick 是摘取的意思，而一般摘櫻桃是一個漫長的過程，而且都是挑成熟的摘，所以 cherry-pick 在這裡是指精挑細選的意思。To choose something very carefully
I cherry picked everything for our wedding, because I want to make sure it's perfect.
我對婚禮的每樣東西都要精挑細選，希望一切都百分百完美。
除此之外，cherry 還有其他俚語，比如 cherry on the cake 和 a bite of the cherry.
cherry on the cake 蛋糕上的小櫻桃即錦上添花，想想在本來就好看的蛋糕上再加一顆小櫻桃，是不是頓時覺得更美味啦。
而 a bite of the cherry 則是指做某事的機會或者時機。
