首先，我們先來區分兩者正確的使用時機:
Sorry
使用時機：
1.做錯事後感到愧疚、後悔，因而表示歉意 (apologize)
2.接著要說難以啟齒的事或不好的消息時 (something unpleasant to say)
3.造成對方不便，因而感到不好意思
4.表達遺憾的感覺、慰問(condolences)
5.委婉的拒絕
Example :
I’m sorry for making so much trouble.
對不起，我造成了這麼多困擾。(犯錯)
I am sorry, all flights are delayed.
不好意思，所有的航班都延誤了。(不好的消息)
Sorry, could you please repeat that again?

Excuse Me
使用時機：
1.吸引別人注意 (get someone’s attention)的禮貌說法
2.請對方借過；讓路 (to get pass)，像中文的「不好意思，請借過一下」
3.使用於失禮的行為之前，常用於中途離席或提前離開
Excuse me, could you please tell me how to go to the bank?
不好意思，可以請你告訴我如何去銀行嗎? (吸引別人注意)
Excuse me, could you please move a little bit?
不好意思，可以請你移動一下嗎? (借過；讓路)
Excuse me, I』ll be right back.

Pardon
常見的說法包括:Pardon? / Pardon me? / I beg your pardon?
使用時機：
1.做出令人不悅的行為或錯事，而請求原諒(forgive)2.造成對方的不便，因而請求原諒
3.赦免
提醒: pardon是較為正式(formal)的說法
I beg your pardon. I didn’t notice your bag.
請原諒我，我沒注意到你的包包。(令人不悅的行為)
I beg your pardon. Could you please repeat that again?
請原諒我，可以請你再說一次嗎? (造成對方的不便)

Sorry通常在「犯錯」的行為後使用，表示歉意；事後要求原諒：
-「Sorry」 is asking for forgiveness.
-You have done something wrong, which you regret doing.
此時」sorry」就比 「excuse me」來的恰當
Excuse me通常在做「令人不悅、造成不便」的事情之前使用，有「事先告知、請求允許」的意味：
- 「Excuse me」 is asking for permission.
-You say, 「Excuse me」 before doing something that might inconvenience someone.
常見的是在擁擠的人群通過的情境，當你想要表達借過時， 「excuse me」就比 「sorry」來的恰當，因為此時你並犯錯，而是先前告知要通過，請求允許而已。
※ 常見三者通用的情境:
當你沒有聽清楚對方的說什麼，麻煩對方重複剛才的話時。
Example:
A and B are in the room.
A：Could you please take that box for me?（你可以幫我拿那個箱子嗎？）
B：Excuse me？/ Sorry？/ Pardon me? Can you say that again? （不好意思，你可以再說一次嗎?）
A：I said the box behind the door.（我說是門後的那個箱子。）
在此B是要求對方重複所說的話，此時的Sorry、 Excuse me、Pardon是三者通用的情形，而且要注意這裡me的語調是上揚喔，這樣聽起來才有疑問的感覺。
