A touching video of a father warming intravenous drips for his sick daughter with his mouth has been viewed more than 160 million times.
The trending footage captures the loving parent holding an infusion tube with his mouth so that the medical fluid would not be cold when it went into his child, who was suffering from serious diarrhoea.
The man held the posture for nearly four hours, said the girl's mother who filmed the clip at a hospital in central China's Henan Province.
The heart-warming video was captured on December 8 at the Xinzheng People's Hospital in the prefecture-level city of Xinzheng.
In the video, the toddler keeps calling 'dad' while lying against her father's belly, looking at the man.
Her father, holding the plastic tube in his mouth, is resting against a chair with his eyes shut.
The one-year-old's mother, Huang Liming, said that she and her husband took their daughter, known by her nickname You You, to the hospital after the child suffered from dehydration because of diarrhoea.
Ms Huang claimed that her husband, named Wang Chaopeng, had spent more than two weeks accompanying You You to undergo intravenous therapy before this video was taken.
'I felt awful that You You was sick,' said Mr Wang.
'I touched the IV tube, and it felt quite cold. I feared that my child would feel pain during the therapy,' he added.
'At the beginning, I used my hands to warm it, but I didn't feel it worked, so I put the tube into my mouth.'
Mr Wang said his work was usually very busy, therefore he tried to spend as much time as possible with You You.
Ms Huang said her husband was 'considerate' and 'patient'.
'I have a good husband and my daughter has a good father,' she told the station.
The video, filmed by Ms Huang, has gathered more than 160 million clicks and 13,000 comments since it became widely shared on Weibo.
On a topic page, many Weibo users have expressed their admiration and respect for the dedicated father.
One person known by the username 'Xin Yi Yi' wrote: 'Father's love is like a mountain. What a lucky child.'
Another viewer called 'Xu Yanling' said: 'Kudos to the father.'
However, some people questioned if the man's action would actually help with the treatment or relieve his daughter's pain.
Chen Jie, a nurse from Xinzheng People's Hospital, said IV drips did not need warming up before being used.
She said: 'His action was very moving, but we advise against it.'
The nurse recommended parents use a cup of hot water to warm their children's hands instead.
