1.all but意為「簡直是，幾乎」。
The man isall but dead. 那人幾乎要死了。

2.all…but意為「除了……都，全……只」。
They were all gone butJim. 除了Jim他們都走啦。
He has already withdrawn all but100 dollars. 他取出了全部的錢，也只有100美金。
3.for all意為「儘管，雖然」，相當於in spite of和with all，引導讓步狀語從句或短語。
He won't give upfor all the repeated failures. 儘管不停的失敗，他不會放棄的。
