每到一座新的城市，你都會想要一個看得見風景的房間，我也一樣，尤其喜歡看窗外的風景，好像窗裡面裝的不再是簡單的風景，而是被填滿的心情。你也許會說，女孩子，滿腦子是不切實際的幻想，張愛玲曾經說過，女孩子只需要很多很多的愛，和安全感。她們的內心，也似窗外的天氣和景色陰晴不定、變幻無常。就像你永遠猜不透房間外的人有著什麼樣的故事，生命中有些人和事卻忽風急雨而來，等待中不要失去希望，就像影片中會出現一個願意在旅館給你交換有窗戶的房間的人一樣，最美好的風景總會出現。
今天給大家分享的是一部非常經典的作品《看不見風景的房間》。作者是寫過《天使不敢涉足的地方》的英國作家E·M·福斯特，小說中有細膩的筆觸和獨特的音樂感，看似有些沉悶的舊影片裡，義大利佛羅倫斯的美，在影片裡表現得淋漓盡致，那些教堂、畫廊、村間小屋、郊外滿目的野花，無不表現出二十世紀初的某個夏天的片段，襯託出影片中窗外的那片最好的風景，遇見愛情的每個藍天。
鋼琴演奏者露西和看不見風景的房間
出身英國書香之家的Lucy，不諳世事卻溫柔、樸實、機敏，看著影片中她純潔無瑕的臉，我想到，如果她的快樂如像她有生命力的琴聲一樣真實，不被傳統的教條束縛，那她便才是活生生的鮮活的存在。
來到佛羅倫斯的一天，Lucy因為想要一件看得見風景的房間，認識了男主角George，早晨的房間，在床邊透出的第一縷陽光，讓Lucy感受到了義大利的味道，心不在焉地望著窗外的義大利雨景。
It so happened that Lucy, who found daily life rather chaotic, entered a more solid world when she opened the piano. She was then no longer either deferential or patronizing; no longer either a rebel or a slave.

The kingdom of music is not the kingdom of this world; it will accept those whom breeding and intellect and culture have alike rejected. The commonplace person begins to play, and shoots into the empyrean without effort, whilst we look up, marvelling how he has escaped us, and thinking how we could worship him and love him, would he but translate his visions into human words, and his experiences into human actions. Perhaps he cannot; certainly he does not, or does so very seldom. Lucy had done so never.

Passion was there, but it could not be easily labelled; it slipped between love and hatred and jealousy, and all the furniture of the pictorial style. And she was tragical only in the sense that she was great, for she loved to play on the side of Victory. Victory of what and over what-- that is more than the words of daily life can tell us. But that some sonatas of Beethoven are written tragic no one can gainsay; yet they can triumph or despair as the player decides, and Lucy had decided that they should triumph.

At the same moment the ground gave way, and with a cry she fell out of the wood. Light and beauty enveloped her. She had fallen on to a little open terrace, which was covered with violets from end to end.

An engagement is so potent a thing that sooner or later it reduces all who speak of it to this state of cheerful awe. Away from it, in the solitude of their rooms, Mr. Beebe, and even Freddy, might again be critical. But in its presence and in the presence of each other they were sincerely hilarious. It has a strange power, for it compels not only the lips, but the very heart. The chief parallel to compare one great thing with another--is the power over us of a temple of some alien creed. Standing outside, we deride or oppose it, or at the most feel sentimental. Inside, though the saints and gods are not ours, we become true believers, in case any true believer should be present.

A Radical out and out, she learnt to speak with horror of Suburbia. Life, so far as she troubled to conceive it, was a circle of rich, pleasant people, with identical interests and identical foes. In this circle, one thought, married, and died. Outside it were poverty and vulgarity for ever trying to enter, just as the London fog tries to enter the pine-woods pouring through the gaps in the northern hills. But, in Italy, where any one who chooses may warm himself in equality, as in the sun, this conception of life vanished. Her senses expanded; she felt that there was no one whom she might not get to like, that social barriers were irremovable, doubtless, but not particularly high. You jump over them just as you jump into a peasant's olive-yard in the Apennines, and he is glad to see you. She returned with new eyes.

He did not realize that Lucy had consecrated her environment by the thousand little civilities that create a tenderness in time, and that though her eyes saw its defects, her heart refused to despise it entirely. Nor did he realize a more important point-- that if she was too great for this society, she was too great for all society, and had reached the stage where personal intercourse would alone satisfy her. A rebel she was, but not of the kind he understood--a rebel who desired, not a wider dwelling-room, but equality beside the man she loved. For Italy was offering her the most priceless of all possessions--her own soul.

"There is a certain amount of kindness, just as there is a certain amount of light," he continued in measured tones. "We cast a shadow on something wherever we stand, and it is no good moving from place to place to save things; because the shadow always follows. Choose a place where you won't do harm--yes, choose a place where you won't do very much harm, and stand in it for all you are worth, facing the sunshine."

A leaf, violently agitated, danced past her, while other leaves lay motionless. That the earth was hastening to re-enter darkness, and the shadows of those trees over Windy Corner?

"You're shocked, but I mean to shock you. It's the only hope at times. I can reach you no other way. You must marry, or your life will be wasted. You have gone too far to retreat. I have no time for the tenderness, and the comradeship, and the poetry, and the things that really matter, and for which you marry.

You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal."

Lucy began to cry with anger, and though her anger passed away soon, her tears remained.

When I think what life is, and how seldom love is answered by love--Marry him; it is one of the moments for which the world was made."

看到了風景會忘記的人和看到了風景不會忘記的人
也許像書裡一樣，人可以分成兩類——看到了風景會忘記的人和看到了風景不會忘記的人。透過風景卻不會忘記你的人，依然相信，那個人，根本不在風角，而是在這裡，仍然站在原來的地方，那個人不僅願意和你交換看得見風景的房間，而願意去愛真正的你，帶著你一起走進你們的風景，那裡有愛的力量也有婚約。在遇見的那一刻，就遵從自己的內心，不要欺騙愛的人，要勇敢地相信熾熱的愛情。
