「Life is a sum of all your choices.」
--Albert Camus Quotes (French novelist, essayist and playwright, 1957 Nobel Prize winner in literature)
Choices, like the air, are everywhere around us. It is like grass chooses the ground so that its vitality can emerge; it is for that reason that birds choose the blue sky where they are able to outstretch their wings and soar to the great height; it is insomuch as fish choose the ocean where they are capable of swimming for a long distance.
It is true that it is unswerving choices that make life colorful. Some choices in life are crucial, which will be the milestones in your life.
I can well remember when I was a child aged 10, I was still unable to swim while others of the same age swam very well though I had been taught for many times. I was rather afraid of water at that time. On some occasions, my parents sighed disappointedly. I said to them, 「I have no interest in swimming!」
In fact, I just wanted to hide my shame. One night on bed, I burst into tears, thinking of all the frustration I came across in the course of learning swimming. 「Why can’t I make it?」 「I must learn to swim!」
With this attic faith, later, I chose to face the challenge and eventually dared to swim in the deep water. Not only was I able to swim, I also gained a treasure: Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of America, once said」 Let me express my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself-nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror, which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance」 when running for electoral office.
As this saying goes, only when we choose to face fear with great courage, can we defeat the reverses in our life.
You see, friends, life is full of ups and downs; we are bound to meet with problems and go through tough times. But those who respond to and handle those problems positively usually accomplish their goals in life.
It’s not luck that controls your life, but it’s your choice that determines whether you are happy and successful. Because things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
No matter what happens, those people just choose to keep going. So sooner or later, tough people will win over tough times. You know the same heat that melts butter also hardens the ground. The difference lies in how the butter and the ground respond to the heat.
So, how about you? How do you respond to and handle the heat that emerges from problems and tough times in your life? No matter which way the ball bounces, it’s still your game in life that God gave you to choose well.
