前幾天在看國外論壇的時候發現一個俚語特別有意思，給大家介紹一下。老外說「Mum’s the word」是啥意思？有什麼企圖？難道這是什麼新型的暗號嗎？
1. Mum's the word
「Mum’s the word」可不是要你「聽媽媽的話」，那有什麼企圖？
其實，當我們說Mum’s the word，it means to keep this a secret, do not tell anybody。
也就是說，保守秘密，不說出去；有點像是中文裡面的「我發誓」。
英語例句看看：
① - I don't want anyone to know that I'm back yet, so mum's the word.
- Your secret is safe with me. Mum's the word.
- 我還不想讓任何人知道我回來了，你發誓。
-我不會洩露你的秘密的。我發誓！
* 這個俚語來源很久遠了，在那個時候mum這個單詞的意思是「silence」沉默的意思，這就是為啥用了mum’s the word這個表達。
而且在發mum這個音的時候，嘴巴開了一下下馬上閉上了，可不就是不說出去保守秘密麼。
2. Lie low
為了好好的保守秘密，我們肯定要保持低調，甚至藏起來，這樣的話你才不會被人抓到小辮子。
在英語中就有一個類似的表達叫做lie low——保持低調。
It means to hide so you will not be caught by someone。它的意思是藏起來，這樣你就不會被別人抓住了。
英語例句瞅瞅：
① I'd lie low if I were you till the trouble passes.
如果我是你，我會躲起來直到麻煩過去。
② He is going to lie low at home this week, he doesn't really feel like going out at all.
這個星期他打算在家裡躲起來，他根本不想出去。
3. Send him packing
如果你的朋友不能幫你保守秘密，甚至大嘴巴一樣把你的秘密到處宣揚，我估計你巴不得把她打包送去太平洋吧？
在英文中我們會用「send him packing/send her packing」來表達這種情緒。
Send him packing means to ask sb. to go away because you are annoyed with them.也就是請某人離開，因為你生他們的氣，看著就心煩！
英語例句瞄瞄：
① I couldn't stand his bad breath anymore, so I sent him packing.
我忍不了他的口臭了！所以我讓他滾了。
