4月2日，瑞幸咖啡突然發布公告承認虛假交易22億元。受此影響，瑞幸咖啡股價周四一度暴跌81%。
從2017年底創立到2019年中在美國上市，瑞幸咖啡只花了17個月時間，獨步全球。
不過對於瑞幸咖啡的質疑也一直存在，其中之一便是發展太快、燒錢燒得太狠了。
瑞幸咖啡上市當天，美國紐約時代廣場中心的納斯達克大屏上滾動播放著瑞幸咖啡的宣言，其中一句是「中國咖啡和美國咖啡比，差距在哪？差在自信。」
現在看來，這句話倒是頗有幾分諷刺意味。

首先是fabricate這個詞，最早表示「製造」的含義。比如在幾百年前的歐洲，特別是在義大利這樣的手工作坊非常發達的地方，fabricate對應的畫面就是一個匠人在自家的工作坊裡敲敲打打，最後「雙手創造」了一件精美的工藝品。
假設之後工匠發現自家財務做帳有問題，記錄了很多沒有實際發生的交易數目，工匠就想起來用fabricate來諷刺這個財務，稱其和匠人一樣具備「創造能力」，那這裡fabricate就有了「偽造」的意思。
瑞幸咖啡偽造的內容正是交易數目，具體來說是coffee orders/咖啡訂單。如果要用英文表達「瑞幸咖啡去年偽造了100萬單的咖啡訂單」，可以說：

On Thursday, the company announced that its preliminary investigation uncovered fabricated transactions accounting for a total of RMB 2.2 billion ($310 million) from the second to the fourth quarter of 2019. Certain costs and expenses had also been substantially inflated, according to the investigation.
Luckin Coffee shares nosedived as much as 80% Thursday morning after an internal investigation found the business' chief operating officer fabricated sales throughout 2019.
A special committee discovered Jian Liu and employees reporting to him falsified sales adding up to 2.2 billion yuan ($310 million), according to a regulatory filing published Thursday.
