這兩天你的微博和微信上有沒有被「荷蘭改名」的消息刷屏？是不是另有一大堆「尼德蘭」的科普？那麼，好好的「荷蘭」，怎麼就要改名呢？
據報導，荷蘭政府宣布將正式放棄「Holland」這一暱稱，只使用「The Netherlands」作為國家名稱，旨在重新包裝其「國際形象」。
The Dutch government announced that it will officially drop their country's nickname, 「Holland,」 and only use the name The Netherlands, in an effort to rebrand their 「international image.」
據《雪梨晨鋒報》報導，這一變化將從2020年1月份開始，包括公司、使館、政府各部門以及大學等將使用這一法定名稱。
The change will mandate that starting in January, 「companies, embassies, ministries and universities will only be able to refer to the state using its legitimate title,」 according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
「不再用Holland了：荷蘭政府官方放棄暱稱」
現在放棄「Holland」這一名稱，也是趕在了荷蘭主辦「歐洲歌唱大賽」以及參加2020年的東京奧運會之前。
It comes before the country is due to host the Eurovision Song Contest and participate in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
此前，荷蘭國家旅遊促進局使用的就是Holland這一詞彙以及該國的象徵鬱金香作為logo。而將Holland改為Netherlands，則是該國旅遊行業提出的，希望後者能更完整呈現國家全貌。暱稱Holland，實際上只能代表該國12個省份中的兩個。
Previously, The Netherlands's Board of Tourism and Conventions used the word Holland and the symbol of the Dutch tulip as its logo. The switch from Holland to The Netherlands was prompted by the tourism industry’s desire to represent the whole of the country. The moniker Holland only refers to two out of the 12 provinces in The Netherlands.

比如，該國的國際旅遊網站，現在名為Holland.com，也將使用The Netherlands的名稱。據荷蘭新聞網站報導，橙色依然保留作為國家官方顏色，不過目前尚不清楚鬱金香是否保留。
The country will switch to using 'The Netherlands' in its official branding, including on its international tourism site - which is called Holland.com for the time being. Orange will remain the Netherlands' official colour - although it isn't clear whether the tulip will survive, says Dutch News.
2019年11月8日，荷蘭政府曾宣布對徽標進行改版，但當時並不涉及國名的更改。新徽標採用含有鬱金香造型的大寫字母NL和Netherlands字樣。
而從今年1月起，荷蘭政府機構、駐外使領館、高校、會展等均可採用新徽標，旨在重塑荷蘭國際形象，進一步加強外界對荷蘭的全面了解。
荷蘭政府一共發布了英、中、日等8個語言版本，如下圖：

那麼……問題來了，Holland變成了The Netherlands，那麼他們的中文名字荷蘭，是不是也要變成尼德蘭？
從上圖中的中文版新徽標來看，並沒有！荷蘭，還是荷蘭！
那麼，「荷蘭」這個名字是怎麼來的呢？
16世紀，荷蘭受西班牙統治。1568年爆發歷時80年的反抗西班牙統治的戰爭。1581年北部7省成立尼德蘭聯省共和國，包括今天的荷蘭、比利時、盧森堡和法國東北部的一部分。其中，荷蘭省（Holland，現分為北荷蘭省和南荷蘭省）是當時聯省共和國中最大、最富裕且最有權力的省份，人們便常用Holland代指整個國家。中文譯名「荷蘭」就來自「Holland」一詞。
還好，從中文名字而言，荷蘭還是那個荷蘭，荷蘭豆荷蘭豬荷蘭弟（誤）也不用改名啦！
