Beijing International Book Fair 2017
The 24th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) is being held at the (new) China International Exhibition Centre from Aug 23 to 27. Chinese novelist Liu Zhenyun is being appointed BIBF’s first-ever Reading Promotion Ambassador.

Launched in 1986, the Beijing International Book Fair is the second largest book fair in the world, after the Frankfurt Book Fair. The exhibition venue includes seven pavilions and a total exhibition area of 92,700 square metres-17.9% larger than last year.
自1986年首次舉辦以來，北京圖博會已成為僅次於法蘭克福書展的全球第二大書展。本屆共設有七大展館，展覽面積92700平方米，較去年增長17.9%。
About 2,500 publishers from 89 countries and regions attend the fair, and they bring about 300,000 titles. Publishers from Oman, Azerbaijan and Ukraine are to attend for the first time.

Chinese writer Li Feng is accusing best-selling author Guo Jingming of sexual harassment through his personal Weibo account.

Guo Jingming, an acclaimed writer and director in China, has appeared among the Forbes list of the richest Chinese writers on numerous occasions.

The Hangzhou Internet Court opened on Friday and heard its first case - a copyright infringement dispute between an online writer and a web company.

Stabbings in the Finnish city of Turku that left two people dead and injured eight others on Friday are being treated as terrorist attack, Finland Police said.

On Monday, August 21, a total solar eclipse, also referred to as the "Great American Eclipse", was visible within a thin path of totality from the West Coast to the East Coast across the entire contiguous United States in 99 years.

A bear attacked a visitor in a drive-through wildlife park where a woman was previously mauled to death by tigers.

The Jinyiwei app, which is set to launch in Qingdao in early September, provides an Uber-like bodyguard service for individuals and companies citywide with over 50,000 security staff members unified from 47 security companies.
