Beijing commuters lose an average of 808 yuan in time-cost per month due to traffic congestion, the highest among Chinese cities.
The report shows that for every one hour of commuting during rush hours, 30 minutes are wasted on traffic jams in Beijing.
Cities with a higher level of development and higher monthly wages lose more money due to congestion. The cities losing more than 600 yuan in time-cost after Beijing are Guangzhou (753 yuan), Shenzhen (728 yuan), Shanghai (649 yuan), Dalian (628 yuan) and Tianjin (601 yuan).
