Definition: A phrase used to emphasize that a particular situation (or life in general) is difficult. It is often used humorously and/or ironically when one is having difficulty doing something that should not be difficult or complaining about something that is not particularly problematic.

Hey there, yeah I'm talking to you, what's up? It's Mr. Wong here, so the whole family is planning a trip to Vegas on Lunar New Year, and I was really looking forward to it because I've never been to Vegas since...forever,
but here's the thing, I only have 3 days off for Chinese New Year, and the drive up there is gonna be pretty far. We're looking at 6-7 hours at least.
So here's the decision I have to make - either go to Vegas and come back feeling exhausted or just stay home and binge watch TV. The struggle is real! And speaking of the phrase "the struggle is real," that's gonna be our phrase of the day, let's check it out!
