Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I'm very glad to stand here to interpret my lesson. Today my topic is 「Earthquakes」 (Reading and speaking part). I am going to introduce my lesson from the following aspects: the analysis of teaching material and students, teaching aims, teaching key points and different points, teaching and studying methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design.
Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching material
First of all, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching material. This unit is about earthquake including Tangshan earthquake,1906San Francisco earthquake and some basic knowledge about earthquake. Reading and speaking part consists of two sections: section 1 is to make a speech about earthquake. Section 2 is to discuss what had to be done to rebuild a city after an earthquake. From the two sections students can know how to make a speech.
Ⅱ. Analysis of the students
Then, I』d like to talk something about my students. My students already learn some speaking skill, However, some of them are unfamiliar to give a speech and thus will be unwilling to speak English. Therefore, I will try my best to create a good environment for them and encourage them to speak out bravely.
Ⅲ. Analysis of the teaching aims
Based on the syllabus and the analysis of teaching material and students, I set the teaching aims as follows:
Knowledge aims: Students will learn the structure of speech and enjoy some famous speeches.
Ability aims: Students can know how to give a speech and their speaking ability will have a great improvement.
Emotional aims: Students will enjoy giving a speech and like to express their feeling by speech.
Ⅳ. Analysis of the key and difficult points
According to the aims of three-dimension, the key point of this lesson is to get students use the words and expression to give a speech. And the difficult point is to let students express their feeling through the intonation in the process of speaking.
Ⅴ. Analysis of teaching and studying methods
To help students achieve the teaching aims much easier, I will mainly use Task-based teaching method, Situational teaching method and Communicative teaching method and so on. For students, I will encourage them to learn to communicate with their classmates to let them become the real host of the class.
Now it is time to show you the most important part-teaching procedure to you. My teaching procedure consist of five steps: warming up, pre-speaking, while speaking, post speaking, summary and homework. Now please pay attention to warming up.
Ⅵ. Analysis of the teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up
My class will start with a series of pictures including fire, hurricane, typhoon, tsunami, earthquake. I will ask them: How do you feel when you see these pictures? After students express their sorrow, I will continue to ask them: What will you do when you hear that an earthquake happens there? suppose you are a president of a country, and an earthquake happens in your country. What will you do? Maybe some students will answer: speech. Thus lead in our topic-speech.
Step 2 Pre-speaking
The second step is pre-speaking . I will play a record which is a speech made by President Bush after a big earthquake hit India on the first day of New Year and ask students to pay attention to the structure and intonation of his speech. I will stress that we should know the intention of the speech , consider the feeling of listeners and try to let the listener have the same feeling. By listening a speech .Students will know the function of Introduction which is to give a strong first impression ,the function of Body which is to explain your ideas and support them and the function of Conclusion which is to review your speech and leave a lasting final impression.
At that time I will ask students to read a letter of invitation in textbook inP30 and ask them to find out some detailed information of the invitation by asking the following questions and letting them have a discuss: What will the new park be opened for? What they will invite you to do? When? What should this speech should contain? How to express these sentences? After students have a discussion, I will show them some useful expressions on the power point .By doing this ,students will have a better understanding of the structure of speech and can apply the expressions in their speech.
