Unit 6 Changes in our lives

Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I'm very glad to stand here to interpret my lesson. Today my topic is 「changes in our lives」 (word part). I am going to introduce my lesson from the following aspects: the analysis of teaching material and students, teaching aims, teaching key points and difficult points, teaching and studying methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design.

Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching material

Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching content.

This lesson is a new one of Unit 2. The topic of this unit is about changes in our lives. It is from Oxford English book, the second semester of grade 5.

In this part, students will learn some new words: photographer, writer, street cleaner and so on. Students can point the cards when listening the words and use them in particular context.

Ⅱ. Analysis of the students

Secondly, it is about the students. Our students are in Grade 6. They are active and curious, interested in new things. After learning English for 3 years, they have some basic English background knowledge, so I would attach importance to the communication with them, providing them more chances of using language.

Ⅲ. Analysis of the teaching aims

Based on the syllabus and the analysis of teaching material and students, I set the teaching following aims:

Knowledge aim:

Students will master three new words, photographer, street cleaner and writer. Students can point the cards when listening the words or sentences.

Ability aims:

Through group work and games they will enrich their vocabulary and improve reading and speaking ability.

Emotional aim:

Students know the meaning of the three words and get the relation between the words of job and the tools they use.

Ⅳ. Analysis of the key and difficult points

According to the aims of three-dimension, the key point of this lesson is: Students can understand the basic meaning of words under the help of picture.

And the difficult point is: Students can use the words and sentences in real circumstances.

Ⅴ. Analysis of teaching and study methods

Now, let me talk about teaching methods and study methods.

When I deal with this lesson, I』ll do my best to carry out some teaching theories of the new standard curriculum. I would make the students the real masters of the class and I would acts just as a guide to bring their ability into full play. The teaching and study methods I would use are: Task based teaching method, Total physical response and Situational teaching method.

Ⅵ. Analysis of the teaching aids:

In order to attract students』 attention , I would use some Pictures, PPT and Tape recorder.

Ⅶ. Analysis of the teaching procedures

Next, let’s focus on the teaching procedures. I will finish the lesson in 4 steps.

Step 1 Warming-up

I would set a greeting with the Students. Then I will play guessing game. Divide students into five groups and choose two of every group to participate the games. One students act, the other guesses the word and the other members can give some hints but cannot say the particular word. Such as machine, use, farmer, drive, clean, life write, digital camera and so on. The group which guesses the right word more will win the game. Then, I will write down the answer on the blackboard.

The purpose of this is to form a better English learning surrounding for students, and, at the same time, it can lay a good foundation for the next step of the new lesson. In the step, I use game to cause students』 attention. Students can also observe the meaning of those new vocabulary from those pictures. By doing this, students can learning those words much impressively.

Step 2 Presentation

Then with the help of the PPT, I will show the picture about different jobs, ask students:」 Do you know the job?」 and show the new word 「photographer」, lead students read after teacher, then ask:」 What do you think of photographer?」 Students can describe village with those words or expressions they have learned, such as: 「It’s a cool job. He takes pictures with digital camera」 And then, I will show the new word 「street cleaner」 and ask 「what do you think of street cleaner」? They may say they use broom to clean the street for us and make our city more beautiful. In this way, show the word 「writer」. I will read them at first and let students read after me in rising and falling intonation.

With the help of the PPT, I would go on to set picture about jobs. Ask students to find out the above jobs. Then, ask some students read it loudly and others read after them.

The purpose of this is to present the new words and sentences in the situation, which relates to the Students』 real life experiences, to help the Students understand the language easily and naturally.

Next I would show some cards of new words, let students read it in different ways. For example: read it one by one; loud voices and quiet voice and so on.

After that, take off one word and ask students:」Please guess what is missing?」

Then, look at the pictures about new words, and write them on notebook. At this time, I will invite some students write it on blackboard.

The purpose of this is to draw the whole class』 attention to the spelling of the words and to help Students to learn knowledge through a true situation. Reading in different ways can not only draw students』 interesting, but also lead students use those words in speaking. That can help them form a good habit of learning English.

Step3 Consolidation

At first, I show two photos. This is a photo of me in the past. This is a photo of me now. What are the differences? Students may say 「You had short hair in the past. Now you have longhair. Your hands were small in the past. Now they are big.」 I will let students look at these tools, ask 「who uses them?」 and match and say. They may say 「Ms Liu is a writer. She writes with a computer.

Secondly, Ask students watch the pictures of the books and talk about their jobs and tools. Talk about their parents』 job and the tool they may use.

Activities will help Students to practice these words and have a better understanding about them in real situation. There are no noble or humble job because they all contribute for the world.

Step 4 Summary and Homework

By the end of the lesson, I will let them think about the key points of this lesson and summarize the new knowledge together. And after this class, they need to describe one past events and write it down their notebooks. Thus, they can join in the class totally and improve their ability of speaking.

Ⅷ.Analysis of the blackboard Design

At last, it should be blackboard design; this can help them master the rules and the key points.
